Default Galleries vs. Albums...what's the difference?

Hi--

I'm not new to stamping, but I am somewhat of a newbie with uploading digital photos (I uploaded my very first three today!). Anyway, I see that there are individual member galleries as well as albums. Can someone tell me what the difference is? I'm thinking it may be that my gallery would be open to everyone to visit, while only I could access my album. Let me know if I'm on the right track.

Thanks,
Amy J. in Wisconsin

Hi Amy!!

An album is a great way to keep groups of your uploads together. I have an album in my Member Gallery for my 6x6 scrapbook that I did of my boys. Several people like to keep RAKs that they receive in an album, as well.

Your Member Gallery is where all of your uploads appear, even when you categorize them in their proper category by stamp set, technique, or project.

When you put uploads in an album, it will appear in the album when people go to your Member Gallery. You can choose to make the album opened or closed. In other words, you can make it so that you need a password to open the album to view it or leave it regular and everyone can view it.

I honestly don't know of many that have their albums locked, seeing as it is used as a way to keep a group of uploads together.

I hope that makes sense! Let me know if you have any more questions!

I have 2 further questions on the albums...Lets say I have a lot of cards in my gallery and I want to organize them (I have seen where some people do). Mostly by Swaps or cards received or whatever.
1.....Do I create the albums later and move cards to it or do I have to put them in albums when I upload?
2.....Do the cards MOVE to the album or do they get COPIED into the album?

You can either make an album and upload pics into that album and/or you can make an album and move your photos into it.

To move your photos from your gallery into an album: a) creat your album. b)go to your photo and click edit photo. c) select the stamp set the photo is under and scroll all the way to the bottom. Your albums are listed here, select the one you want. d) save/submit changes.

Also, when you move a photo from your gallery into an album it moves them, not copies them.
