yes...I saved them all when I was cheerleader sponsor and I helped the moms make homecoming mums. The mums are a huge thing in Texas. Each cheerleader (I had 66) made a 'desk' mum for each teacher they had (8 total). We covered the teachers' desks in the whole school the night before homecoming. Basically it was a 360 degree mum with all the spirit stuff on it. It really does turn out neat but if you live in a part of the country that does not do mums...well, maybe you could do a Christmas/ Valentines/ Fall thing with them.

I saw someone had made Christmas tree ornaments out of them. But I am pretty sure I wouldn't be able to find that blog back if I had to! You could search for a tutorial on it.

Basically just like you make a regular mum but we trimmed all the ribbons to about 6 to 8 inches and placed them in a circle gluing them to the ribbon spool and placing the silk flower on top of that. Then you glue all the spirit items to the ribbons--just like a mum.

I have retired from cheerleading 10 years ago and retired from teaching 4 years ago...I did not keep one.

I saw a book made out of one of the spools. I have no idea where I saw it, but they removed one of the sides and made a circular book to go on the inside. The spool was like the cover of the book.

The spool books was made out of an SU ribbon spool...I remember seeing it as the SU spools come apart easy and work for this!...
