Default New Colors - Getting them or not?

I LOVE all of the samples in the catalog of the 6 new SU colors! The combinations are used all over and have really drawn me. I really would like to have all of the CS (easy enough with the multi-pack), but I would also like to have the ink colors as well. I just find it difficult, since I am not a demo, to drop $3o on the pads. I guess if I want them badly enough I will just have to sacrifice some stamps that I would like.

The new colors only are available in CS, reinkers and full size classic pads. Not spots.
Vintage Violet
Buckaroo Blue
Cool Caribbean
True Thyme
Marigold Morning
Cranberry Crisp

Not trying to complain. Just interested to see how many of you are planning to purchase all of the pads. Maybe I should just take the plunge!

I dont think I will be getting the new colours. I do like them, but I only have spots due to limited space, so I dont want the full pads. That's just me though.

If they are as nice as they sounds like I might just be tempted.

I haven't seen them yet, but I think I will order them one or two at a time... that way I will for sure get my favorites with a full pack of cardstock (I am assuming you can buy just the single color in a pack, right?) and it's not such a big purchase. BUT this is my plan now before I've even seen them and all the samples.. hopefully I can stick to that!

I probably will get the spots. That is what I did last year with the new colors. I wanted the regular sized SU pads but couldn't justify spending the $$ when I have LOTS of other pads and types of inks from different companies. There are some I had to have in the regular sized pads in certain colors because I use them a lot. Because I used the spots I knew which inks I would use the most and did get the regular sized pad, like Certainly Celery. I didn't spend the money on ones that would just sit.

Last year they had a box of just brand new colors in the spots you could purchase. Are they doing that again? (Sorry for 3 posts, I just keep thinking of more I want to know.)

I will most definitely stock up on the cranberry and the aqua colors in paper and reinkers. I make my own ink pads by buying blank pads identical to the old SU pads as I hate the new pads.

Stampinsweeney I totally want them all. But even as a small time demo it probably means less rubber. I remember reading somewhere where a comment was made to the effect of that you should have more coloring supplies than stamps. After all the coloring supplies are necessary in order to use the stamps you buy. Ok ok so I'm justifying but the new colors are so purdy I can't wait to get my paws on them. Heck I haven't even seen the catty yet and if the samples are as good as you say... I guess I better make sure I'm working so I can get my goodies.

The new colors are the first things I'll be ordering...I've been saving up for the new catty - so I'm getting them all at one time (mostly because I wouldn't be able to choose among them if I had to). I can't wait!!

Ok more questions....

no spots makes me sad.... do these new colors go with certain color families or with each other? I haven't seen them but based on descriptions I would be most interested in cool carribean.

I think they're designed to go with each other. Thyme, Marigold, and Cranberry go nicely, IMO. I am a sucker for cranberry red.

i love all the new colors so as part of my first order i'm gonna get all 6 inkpads and an assorted pack of cardstock - then i can get the reinkers and packs of cardstock here and there throughout the year - i'm a sucker for the pretty colors!

They're calling these 6 new colors "in color" and it says they're only going to be available for a year, guess they figure that these are this year's trendy colors. For anyone who doesn't have the new catalog yet, I can give a description of the colors so you can kind of picture what they look like...
Vintage Violet--the sample swatch looks very dark, kinda sorta how Not Quite Navy looks next to Night of Navy...not as dark as Elegant Eggplant but close. Also it looks a little grey to me, like a purple version of Bordering Blue (but dark) if that makes any sense.
Buckaroo Blue--Like Brocade Blue, just a shade or two darker.
Cool Caribbean--like Tempting Turquoise, but lighter. Bet you could use these two together to make a monochromatic project. My favorite of the six!
Marigold Morning--gold color, darker than Summer Sun or So Saffron, but not as dark as More Mustard
True Thyme--green in between Always Artichoke and Mellow Moss
Cranberry Crisp--my second favorite color, it's a dark red in between Ruby Red and Bravo Burgundy.

Wish they were selling matching markers...

HTH.

Because I have almost all *Spots* and that is all I want, I am buying blank spots from www.franticstamper.com - the refils and will make my own *spots* for the 6 new colors! I have the standard size pads for WW, VV, SS, BB, and GG. I want spots and since I have the re-inkers, I will be making my own *spots* for those colors too!

Her spots are $1.99 and full size pads are $3.99 & $4.99.

Hi,
I looked on Frantic Stamper and it says the small dry stamp pad is for craft ink?? Does this matter? i love your idea of just buying the reinkers and these cubes and making our own spots!!!

I put it in your first post....we removed the edit feature due to too many users removing their posts rather than just editing them for spelling and broken links...

as for the colors... I think I will get Marigold, Cranberry and Carribean first and the asst'd paper....then see what I think if I "NEED" the other inks...

I looked on franticstamper as well and cannot find the dry stamp pads that you are talking about. I really want to do this. Can you tell me who makes them, or what they are called, or attach the hyperlink to the product so we can see it? I would like spots or pads....Thanks so much!!!

What a great idea. I didn't know you could get blank pads. This would make getting the reinkers so versatile. I love the idea of having all the new colours, but I don't like having to get large pads for all of them. I like the space-saving spots for stamping on the go.

Is this it? Do they come with the case as well as the uninked pad?

I think Blockhead stamps has both the foam and the felt pads. I bought little plastic stamp pad boxes to make your own little pads from Impression Obsession.

Great idea --- Reinkers are my absolute favorite thing

My original plan was to buy EVERYTHING! Pads, papers, and reinkers! But now you have me thinking about trying the spots - what a great idea! I love you guys - you are actually helping me SAVE money instead of spending it!!

I am a demo and will only be getting three of the inkpads (and refills)

Vintage Violet - looks like a very nice washed purple look

Cranberry Crisp - LOVIN this color...not to burgandy...not to red - simply perfect

Cool Caribbean - another must have color - love the blue/tealy washed look of it

Of course I will make sure I stock up on this paper too...

as for the others I'll probably get the paper...but not the ink pads...

Buckaroo Blue - looks like some of the blues we already have
True Thyme - close enough to Articoke for me
Marigold Morning - close enough to Summer Sun or So Saffron to me

http://www..com/ink_uninked.html

Here are the pads from blockhead stamps

And yes, that is the link to www.franticstamper.com blank pads

I could not find any on Impression-Obsession site. If I find others that are as reasonable as Fran's, I'll post. There are others, but they want an arm and a leg! I would rather buy more RUBBER!

It does matter -- the pad for craft ink is spongy, while a pad for dye ink (classic ink) is made out of felt. Different ink, different material.

Fran at Frantic Stamper says she is out of the blank dye cubes/spots but has plenty of the blank foam cubes/spots.

Getting all the new pads, and a pack of assorted paper in those colors. But what I am super excited about getting and it is at the TOP of my list, is the extenders for 12 more pads to my stamp pad carrell. That was a smart move by SU!

Now as for the sets, the only one I was searching hard for was GODSPEED, which of course, did not make the catalog... sigh.....

Found alot of cute stuff and absolutely love the Level 1 hostess gifts.

I get Comotion brand blank pads (identical to the old SU pads) at Addicted to Rubber stamps. They are next to impossible to find on the site so I call in my order for them. They are wonderful!! I make ALL my dye single color pads by simply buying reinkers in whatever color I want. It takes a full reinker plus a few drops more to ink the pad. This way you have a wet pad and a matching reinker from the get go.
