Default New Color Boycott?

I really, really want to get the new color stamp pads and papers but I am wondering if I should because of the availability in the future. And, the fact that they don't have markers in the colors makes me mad. I love the markers!

What does everyone think? Do you love the new colors and should I just give in?

TIA!

I love the new colors. I was thinking of limiting myself to just 3 but I can't seem to decide. The only one I'm not real crazy about is thyme so maybe I'll just get the other 5.

They are really incredible. I'm hooked on Cranberry Crisp and Cool Carribean!!!! Just get the re-inkers and you'll be set for years. I forsee another color family in the SU future and I think the "in Color" line is just a way to test market them. So you may see them again after next June 30th. We'll see! JMO!
BTW, you CAN make your own markers using the re-inkers and they work great! Do a search for other threads with the instructions. Good luck!

That would be like boycutting the mini catties because we might not see any of those sets in the big catty again.

Yeah, but if you don't get a stamp set, that is different from not being able to get more paper, etc to match the stamp pads you have.....KWIM?

Anyhoo, I will probably cave in as usual!

All you have to do is HOARD!!!

OK- maybe not the best thing. How about just buying a whole bunch???

I love all the new colors. I will buy them and then buy more until I can't anymore. I still use my old colors that were retired last year. I really love mint melody.

Too late for me to boycott. I already bought everything available in the new colors. I love them! I will be stocking up on cardstock during the year so I will have some for a long time.

There is also the possibility that you will continue to find the same (or REALLY close!) colors of paper in the LSS...Bazzill has BUNCHES and BUNCHES of colors!

MMmmmm... the new In Colors are too yummy to boycott! I love all of them but my fav three are Vintage Violet, Cool Caribbean, and Cranberry Crisp! I think they are sooo worth it even if you can only replenish your stock for a year.

I've decided not to buy the limited "in colors" I don't want to have to "stock" up before they retire. I think I can live without them.

It seems to me that the new colors are no different than any color in the catty, as it is quite possible that an existing color might be discontinued next year (think barely blue getting replaced by bashful blue). I didn't hang out at SCS then so don't know what kind of warning you got about that happening, but at least with the In Colors you know for sure they will be discontinued.

Personally I don't have all the regular colors so am concentrating on them first, however, the selected In Colors are influencing my decision to get similar colors from the regular selection:

Tempting Turquoise
Apricot Appeal
Bravo Burgundy
Brocade Blue
Night of Navy
Handsome Hunter

Would you really notice the difference between somthing made with Marigold Morning and Cool Carribean vs Apricot Appeal and Tempting Turquoise? IMHO, its close enough.

For those of you looking for markers, have you looked at the following CTMH colors: Breeze (Cool Carribean) and Sunflower (Marigold Morning). They are really close. Unfortunately they don't have anything close for the other 4.

Well, I thought i could limit my purchase of the new colors............HA!
I'm on my third pack of Carribean and Marigold Morning. I'm using the vintage violet with Kraft and always artichoke for our own Christmas cards this year.
I love AmyR's tutorial on using a set of blender pens and re-inkers to have a set of InColor markers. And the matching ribbon in the holiday mini is awesome. I gave up. Just enjoy and use them.

LOL, OK maybe I could add more to that. I have tons of pads that I got years ago from various sources. Still use 'em and love 'em. I go by what I like. If you like/love one of the In Colors, why not get it? They are available for a whole year. Plenty of time to decide if you need to get an extra pack or two of paper at the end of the catalog to carry you over.

I had just figured I'd get the paper and reinkers at first and avoid the pads altogether. (I'm a frugal-wannabe.) I figured, hey--there's always blender pens and aquapainters to paint with, right? Why spend the extra to get the pads too? THAT didn't last long, lol. I'm now completely outfitted in the entire line. I figured if they didn't carry over, at least the colors will likely work well with other lines of cardstock and patterned paper.

Well, all I can say is I have an emotional response to color. The Marigold Morning is so rich and sunny. The Cool Carribean just puts me in the white sand with the bluegreen water lapping at my feet and the soft, pale sky keeping me company. And, yes, call me whacked! It's my middle name.....lol.

I am still deciding, but I figure I will get them. I was just going to get three, then fell in love with color #4, and now I figure I should just get the other two as well.

I don't have the marigold yet so I'm not sure about that one but cool caribbean is significantly lighter than tempting turquoise and they work beautifully together. I think CC is really a wonderful bright summery color. I still don't have all of the "regular" colors but I like some of the in-colors more.

I've already caved I have some of the paper. I'm probably going to order more because I like it so much. I also want the inkpads.

One of my favorite comments about colors vs. stamps comes from Debbie Gimbel her entire article about prismacolors is on www.gingerstamps.com

"I am not going to embarrass you by asking how much you have invested in your stamps. But what good are they if you don't have the right materials to back them up? I know lots of stampers who hestitate to buy a $6 or $8 stamp pad, plus a re-inker, but will then buy $50 more in stamps, which they can't get to work for them. You know you're in the right mode if your pencils and markers outnumber your stamps by three-fold! So lay in a full supply of pads (with re-inker for each, by the way), paper, markers and pencils, nail your coloring and then go back to the stamp shopping. But work through all your current stamps, doing sample colorings and making notations, and booking these so you can go right to it when you're ready to use that stamp. "

The first time I read this it hit home so well. I realized that without the tools to create the art my stamps were kinda worthless in a sense. That's probably why I jumped on the new color bandwagon so quickly. Just food for thought.

Just because they don't make markers in the new In Colors in markers and the Craft Pads doesn't mean you can't make them yourself. Go to AmyR blog to find a wonderful tutorial on how to do that. As for the craft pad, I have heard that if you add versamark to a classic ink pad you will have a craft ink pad.

I bought blank spots from another source and then got 1 pack of InColor paper (the multi pack) and all the reinkers. I *love* all the colors and know that before the end of the year I will have at least 1 package of each color, if not two. But then, I love all colors (my paper stash - which is my scrapping source is over 5 feet tall - no I'm not kidding).

Don't boycott! Buy them all. I have them all in the inks, paper and the ribbon available in the upcoming holiday mini. The colors are wonderful! I will be buying reinkers and paper throughout the year so that once their time is up, I will have plenty for the future. I love these six colors!

I ended up getting them all, and I love Marigold Morning and Cool Carribean... Ok, I love them all! I use them all the time now. They compliment each other, and the 'regular' colors so well.

I'm not worrying about hoarding or running out at year end. I'm treating them as "trend" colors, like trends in patterned paper. Have you ever bought patterned paper, then when you looked at it two years or more down the road, thought, "Can't use this, it's too dated!"

So yes, I'm buying the In Color pads and cardstock and one refill. I'll use them for the next year and then pass on whatever remains to clear the way for next year's colors!

I've read a fair bit about folks finding Soft Subtles colours fading quite quickly; has this been an issue yet with the paler colours like CC and MM?

I am very tempted by the In colours, but the whole fading thing is a concern to me (do you know how hard it is for me to make the simplest card? ). so, I've been trying to stick to the Distress Inks, which also come in awesome colours and are archival.

I wasn't sure about them either. I'm in love the Caribbean and Cranberry. I need to use the other colors still. I just started with the assorted pack so I could play and decide what I liked best. Then my first new catty order was $150, so I got three stamp pads for "free." I can justify anything. The Caribbean looks really nice with Artichoke if you can believe it. I really like the Marigold, just haven't had time to play with it yet. Hopefully this weekend.

Pick 1 or 2 of your favorites and for $20 you can have enough paper and ink to go a long way - to put it in perspective how much do people spend on starbucks and other goodies that don't last nearly as long - except on the hips

Same here. I bought all the reinkers, stamp pads and variety packs in both the 8 1/2 x 11 and 12 x 12 paper. They are available for a whole year and when I run out of paper, I'll just purchase more.

I bought all the new in color ink pads and the asst pack of in color cardstock. I wanted to figure out which color I'd use up first b/4 buying entire packs of cardstock. I like the Cranberry Crisp and Marigold Morning a lot. Someone asked about MM fading - I think it's more like an updated Summer Sun to me - not Barely Banana. I've been using Buckaroo Blue a lot too. I love 'em!

I also liked AmyR's tutorial (in her blog) about making blender pens into in color markers - what genius!!!

I love C. Caribean, Cranberry C., V. Violate and Buckaroo Blue. MM is OK. I thought I would LOVE True Thyme but have not found a color combo that I like.

I bought them all and will definetly be stocking up on at least 3 of them! I don't hesitate to buy a mini set just because it might not be in the big catty but I am a hobby demo and only buy what I like and will use. My customer base is big enough to keep me going along with my orders so there is no pressure of time limit! Don't lose out..these colors are awesome and they are so much better in person!!
