So I thought I would make DS's Bar Mitzvah invitations. Spent hours and hours designing a nice card so that all the pieces fit on one piece of cardstock. Ordered all the supplies, printed it all out on card stock. I thought it was a fairly simple design. Guess not! The BG stamp is only about 4 1/2" so I had to use the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp twice after I masked the center. Then had to use the SAMJ to get the words in the boy's tallit (prayer shawl) correctly. Then embossed the boy, put on glitter, sponged and stamped the directions, reply, and no perfume piece. Then embossed the vellum outer envelope. The design came from an invitation that Michelle Laycock (I think) did for some friends. I mailed them in a clear envie so I think it will be a big WOW coming out of the mailbox.
It took me 4 FULL DAYS - yup, 32 hours! Way longer than I thought. I could really use some validation girls. Please tell me that even though it would have been cheaper to buy them, they're worth the effort. Thanks!
Beautiful. I'm especially interested as I'm designing DD's Bat Mitzvah invitation. How did you do the Hebrew?
Thank you! I used a background stamp with Hebrew script and I went online and found a Hebrew font so I could print his name. There are a bunch of free fonts out there, but the trick it to find one with "directions" so you know which English letter corresponds to the Hebrew. Some of them have bizarre key strokes for the vowels - obviously I gave up on those. PM me if you want me to email you the font file.
You must be relieved they are done and you should be very proud of yourself, you did a fantastic job. Your son will have a keepsake to show off forever.
Not to change the subject...but what is the difference between 'bat mitzvah' and 'bar mitzvah'? This is something I have wondered for a while and wasn't sure who to ask.
Thank you all for your comments. I feel much more appreciated now! I'll just need to remember how much work it was before I decide to do it again for DS #2 in 3 years!

Absolutely gorgeous!! Mazel Tov!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You may want to start DS #2's now ;)
I think they came out wonderful! All that hard work pays off in the end. I did my friend's shower and stuff for her wedding, everyone really appriciated that they were handmade. Nice job
Very nice work. It always seems that the "simple" design is the one that takes the longest sometimes. You pulled all those stamps together very nicely. When you do the second one give yourself a couple of weeks to work on it so you won't be so burned out. I know I know easier said than done sometimes.
