Hi, Eileen --

The first tip is to rename your file with a unique name before you upload it. That way, it won't be overwritten later by another file with the same common name.

The second tip is to re-size your jpg image to 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high, or smaller, before you upload it. This makes it faster to upload and lets you choose how to re-size it rather than having the SCS uploading process do it for you.

Here is a link to the upload page. Just upload to Member Galleries. (You can move it later, if needed). Only do one photo at a time for your first try, instead of doing a whole batch at once.

If you run into any problems, describe what's happening and someone will be able to help you figure it out.

can you say what is happening? maybe if you can describe what is going on someone can walk you through it?

I click on upload card - then pick a picture - label it with a description and upload. After a few minutes nothing is uploaded. I don't see a spot to resize?

Are you sure you have a unique filename? for example: RedBird by BD Apr 2009.JPG is pretty unique instead of Redbird.JPG.

ah i resize my photos first before i upload them...

if you have Microsoft office one of the subfiles in that is photo manager, if you open the photo in your computer with it then hit edit then hit resize you can click the box for 800x600 pixels from the drop down menu.... (and or crop off some edges first if needed too) and then hit save as and rename it... (adding your screen name to the file usually keeps it from disappearing from the gallery)

Whenever possible, please do not upload simply to Member Galleries. We have many, many categories that anyone can upload directly to... categories for Stampin' Up sets, categories for scrapbook pages, categories for altered projects, categories for "Anything But A Card". Uploading to the most appropriate category from the start eliminates having to go back and move it yourself (assuming you don't get sidetracked and forget about it, like I'd probably do, LOL - and I'm speaking of "you" in the general sense, not anyone in particular), or having one of the gallery moderators move it for you.

Great advice, I'm guilty of doing that on occasion. I'll find a category now.

BTW, I have a secret "happy dance" I do while I wait for my image to upload, I rub my hands together and think (ok, sometimes outloud), "C'mon baby, c'mon!". Hey, it may work for you too!

I should add that I use MS picture manager and just resize to 80%. That takes it down to the right size.

Good to know. I was trying to keep things as simple as possible for a first try, but this is obviously something that should be set on the first time out. Thanks for taking the time to correct me. :)

Your first two tips in your original post sounded almost straight out of the "If You Share Your Art in the Gallery" thread that Jenn Balcer started several years ago! :D You did great there.

For reference, here's the link to Jenn's post:
