Default Need help with sentiments on a sympathy card

Hello all, my friends son recently commited suicide. I wanted to send a card to my friend, but I'm not sure what to say or what to use as a sentiment. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jen

Try http://versalog.com for sympathy sentiments. They have 25 of them listed. You might find something helpful there.

Personally, I think a hand written sentiment means a lot more than any packaged verse. I love our 2 old ones - what the herart has loved and owned can never be lost, and the native american proverb - but I still add my own thought.

No poetry, no comments of "He's in a better place now."

A simple "I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm here any time you need to talk or help with anything."

There are no words that bring comfort for such a devastating loss.

Other things I appreciated at the painful miscarriage of my 2nd child, were prepared dinners. I was numb and in a daze; I could not think or focus for at least a week and had a 5 yr. old daughter. It helped immensely not to have to worry about what to fix to feed the rest of the family ... if you live near enough, perhaps that is something you could take over?

Jen,

I agree with the others. I'd just write a short note on the inside of the card telling her how sorry you are and that you're there to listen and offer a shoulder. Speak from your heart and it will be perfect, I promise.

I'm sorry for her loss; I'll keep her on my prayer list.

I have a verse I use on cards - outside "when words are not enough" inside "may you know that I care".

Thanks ladies for the help. I wasn't sure what to use. I want to keep it simple with expressing my sympathy and letting her know that I'm here. I think I am going to go with just that. Now I just have to make the card.

I just made a sympathy card for a man here at work - his mother died. I just did a leaf from SU! Fantastic Folliage - no words on the outside. On the inside I stamped "Thinking of You" and then I hand wrote below it "You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers." ~Pam
