Default Need help with filing CS

I need some extra minds to help me think this through. I'm trying to arrange my CS in hanging file folders and I have 30 folders available. Not that I have to use them all, but the better division of colors the easier it will be to quickly and easily find what I am looking for. So far I have come up with these categories: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet, Black, White, Tan, Brown, Gold (metallic), Silver, Bronze/Copper. These would include papers that are patterned, but are either that color and white (only - like red and white gingham, etc. or tone on tone - like watermark). Then my thoughts are that patterned paper is difficult to tie to one color family, like if it has green and blue which do you file it under, so I decided to go with Primary Patterned, Pastel Patterned and Earth Toned Patterned folders. And finally a folder for Page Kits.

Forgot to say that I have large zip lock bags that I will keep the sheets and scraps of each specific color group and then file them within the color family folder so that if I need only a scrap of a certain color I can find it easily. Example: If I have CTMH Cranberry Cardstock and Cranberry Background & Texture Paper it would all be in one ziplock bag and in the Red family file folder.

Did I leave any category out or do you have suggestions for a better way to file the CS? My categores for the patterned paper has me wondering if they are too general. Is there anything else besides CS and paper that you have found handy to file?

Bumping in case someone has some suggestions on what else I could file in the 12 x 12 hanging folders or another category for CS that I might have forgotten. Thanks for any help you can provide.

This is pretty much the same thing I do... I have the hanging folders labels by color (i.e. "blue", "green", etc.) and then I have manilla folders within each hanging folder that are labeled with the actual color. For instance, in the "green" hanging folder, I would have manilla folders labeled "Old Olive", "Green Galore", etc. for all of the SU! colors. Any paper I get elsewhere I just set in the hanging folder loose. I have one folder marked "Patterned Papers" that I put everything in. Probably not the most efficient for that stuff but it works for me.

This is for 8x11 paper though. My 12x12 paper is all together in a seperate holder...

All my 8 1/2 x 11 paper in my file folders are only Stampin' Up!, but I've got mine listed alphabetically instead of by color groups. It's very easy to sort that way. All my 12x12 are in the wire cubes from Target and they're alphabetically too and my patterend is at the end in separate compartments. I'm trying to transition from my Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Wal-mart, JoAnn's, and other paper to just SU. All that paper is just in a box in the floor and it is separated in groups by colors, holidays, and themes, (sun, fish, flowers, etc)
Hope my suggestion helps.
