Default Are there online merchants...

who accept debit cards!? I received a MasterCard giftcard for Christmas that apparently works like a debit card. I was hoping to use it to purchase some things I've been eyeing for months but every stamp/scrapbook site I try to order from doesn't seem to take debit cards...help!

I don't have a CC, only my debit card, and I shop all over the internet with it!

My understanding of the M/C prepaid card is that you still enter the numbers as if they were a M/C but istead of adding money to your account it takes it off. Not 100% on that but I think you need to look for retailers that accept M/C.

Thats what I thought but the few places I tried i've had issues with. JoAnn's called the next day and said that even though they accept MasterCard credit cards they would only take Visa debit. JcPenny would take it but it has to be the exact amount of the giftcard (or less.) They will not split it with another payment method. Its very frustrating!

I would contact mastercard and explain the problems you are having and ask for clarification on how to use it. That sucks that you are having problems since i'm assuming the person who gave you the card did that route thinking it would be easier for you to get exactly what you wanted.
