Need a coach idea!!

We wanted to make our 8th grade bb coach a scrapbook of the last 6 seasons of ball (Plan A), but there's only 2 moms who scrap and we decided we're not gonna do the whole thing. Plan B is to take a team photo and have the boys sign the matte. Plan C is to make a collage or shadowbox using the photos. Do you have any ideas on how to make this special using scrapbook techniques? Or maybe you have other ideas??

It might be hard to pull off, but I think a note from each boy on the team (current one) would be really nice. You could put them all in a scrapbook that is simple along with the team picture and a nice gift certificate!

If you have lots of pictures, why not collage them all over a clipboard??? Just a thought.

a clipboard is a great idea- remember to water seal the mod podge.

I made a collaged letter (S for the name of our team) that I got at Joann's - they are a three D sort of letter, about 1 1/2 inch thick and various heights. I cut and modpodged all the boys' photos then stamped in stazon the team name and the year and wrapped it with hemp.

Thanks!! The clipboard idea is so perfect for basketball!! Are there samples on this site?

Has anyone else done any other coach gifts that could incorporate photos/scrapbooking w/o making a whole scrapbook?

Here's a gift I did for my DDs volleyball coach. Granted, she's a woman but hey, it's and idea, and it went over really big:

Thanks for sharing; the wheels are starting to turn now and I'm feeling creative!!

What's become popular around here are to have each of the moms contribute a handful of digital images of games, practices, etc. and one mom puts together a digital book. It's only about $40 and makes a really memorable gift. CM has a free download of Storybook Creator at their website. What's cool is that you can get multiple copies if parents want their own copy. Once you create the book and are ready to print, you need a consultant's ID, so if you have a CM consultant ask her for her id. If not, you can look up anyone close to you on their locator, which you access when you order your book. The quality is awesome, and it makes a really great gift.

I really like the clipboard idea, but I was wondering what the coach would do with it. Does it get hung on the wall like a photo or art?

It's now time for me to do the altered clipboard for the coaches, but I don't know what to do!! Any suggestions on how to start? I plan to use basketball scrapbook paper as my base. Do I adhere is with Mod Podge? What about photos? Can I Mod Podge photos directly onto it? Please help!!

My daughter played volleyball in highschool. I went to most of the games and gtook lots of pictures. At the awards dinner I presented each of the girls with a photo collage frame from the dollar store decorated with the school mscot and her number. I put a team photo and an individual shot and the name and year of the team the openings. For the coach I filled a small
(4 x 6 I think - from the dollar store) photo album with the team photo as the cover. Each 2 page spread was an individual photo of each girl opposite a note to the coach written by each girl. It was well received and not a whole lot of work...

My husband coaches soccer and last year the girls made him a scrapbook. They did a couple pages at the beginning and end of team pictures and pictures from games and practices that people gave them. Then, each girl made their own page with a picture of themselves and a note to him. It was really nice for him to remember each girl and they said what they had learned that season etc. I think one or two girls put the whole thing together after they gathered the pictures and notes from each girl. They used some sayings he had always said and that made him feel like they really took those to heart and learned from them. Good Luck! I'm sure he'll love whatever you put together!

I coached our grade 7/8 girls basketball (we actually had our last game today!). In my opinion, I would have used an altered clipboard at the games, I think its a great idea. I used just a boring colored one to hold some papers together.

Even a nice card with the team picture would be nice. I'm thinking of making some for my girls as a momento of the season. Any other ideas that your kids have received from their coach?

Make an accodrian book with the team photo and have each boy write one thing in the book that they liked about the coach or some funny thing that happened to them with the coach. The nick name the coach gave them. Accordian books can be as big or little as you want them to be. Go to HGTV.com Carol Duval has them or DIY.net the scrap booking show made the a week or so ago.
