I was unpacking some new Stampin Up items and somehow my young dog snatched a Cherry Cobbler reinker, punctured it with her teeth and got it all over a BRAND new 9 X11 wool rug I had ordered and was deciding on. Pretty much the whole reinker drained onto one 2 inch by 1 inch spot.
I got most of the ink on two other areas out with Spot Shot. I think this area may just be too saturated with ink, but I'm willing to try anything.
Oh no! I hope you get good advice here, or it's in a spot you can put something over it and still have it look OK ... and I hope you were leaning toward liking it and keeping it ... and I hope you still like that naughty dog! OY!
Googled 'removing red ink stain from wool carpet' and this is what I got. Have no idea if it really works (I've heard good things about stains in general being removed with a paste of Hydrogen Peroxide, baking soda and blue Dawn dish detergent, but no idea about carpets.)

How do you get ink out of carpet?
How to Remove Permanent Ink Stains from Carpet
Moisten the ink stain with either rubbing alcohol or non-oily hairspray.
Once you begin to lightly blot the ink stain from the carpet, you should start to see the color transfer onto the towel.
Once the area is stain-free, dab the area with a towel dipped in lukewarm water.

Any idea I can come up with has as much potential to make a bigger mess than the one you've already got as it does to resolve the problem, so I'll just add my sympathies and hope for someone brilliant to show up here to help...
I would contact Stampin Up to see if they have any suggestions. Cherry Cobbler is just one of those colors that could be a difficult one when it comes to getting out of a fabric.
One thing I know ... blot, don't scrub. and patience. this is gonna be a repeat, repeat, repeat the process, no matter what.

Thanks everybody for your responses. I'm going to contact a professional tomorrow since it's Sunday and no one is open right now. I think it's probably a lost cause since there was so much ink it soaked through the back, and of course it's a pale green oriental rug.
I'm just sick because the rug was delivered late yesterday, we rolled it out last night and we didn't really like it at the time but we wanted to see it in daylight to be certain before we packaged it up and returned it. Now I am stuck with an expensive brand new rug that doesn't match, we don't like, and it's got a very prominent red stain nearly smack in the middle. Argh.
Someday I'm sure I will laugh about it, and I know there are many people who have much more serious problems so I need to put it all in perspective. On a lighter note, my ornery little Havanese dog now has a hot pink mustache instead of a white one!
How much is the rug worth? We had a 3 wick red candle burn out the side of it, over the candle plate and onto our living room carpet. We tried and tried to get the red color out and couldn't. Our home owner's insurance covered it! We had to pay the deductible but we replaced it with a stain resistant carpet we really like. If it had connected to other rooms such as a hallway they would have replaced that also. We had never had an insurance claim before in our home and I was super surprised.

'And so, friends, that's how we wound up redecorating the dining room. Isn't that a funny story? and I never want to see Cherry Cobbler Red again, ever.'
