Default My preferences when i pick sets

seam to be so different, actually it seams nobody else likes them

i always liked:
out of this world
jest between friends
knobbly gnomes
rhyme time

and some others.

so when i check the gallerie there are not a lot of samples listed. meaning.... this set is not quite popular, right?
iam wondering, is your taste alway right from the start with most of the people?

if you order your sets do you go with the flow, so it is easier later to sell them?

it will always be a secret to get a runner-upper and get good bucks back when selling on ebay or get a good trade for a older set.

just curious

I buy stamps because I love the images and/or think they will be very versatile and complement my current stash of stamps. I never, ever think about resale value as part of a purchase decision; why should I dedicate time, space, and money to items that really don't appeal to me but "might be a good investment"? (Or if they are so popular then when it comes time to sell them everyone will already have them so who will buy them?) JMHO!

I don't worry about what others like, I go with what I like, cause I can creat better things with sets that are my taste.

I love Knobbly Gnomes!

I love the Gnomes too

I buy what I like and if no one else does, then tough! LOL I agree though if you buy sets according to what's popular with the intention of selling them later, I think that's the wrong angle. I think you need to buy sets that AREN'T as popular, because those are the ones that people will want in the long run.

But 1st and foremost, buy sets that YOU like, because you won't use them if YOU don't like them.

I have a few sets that hardly anyone bought! So, you are not alone. However, I echo the sentiment. Buy what you love. Even though I really like Looks Like Spring (and bought a used set) I'm tired of it already and I've made one card with it!! It is great to see someone use a set that no one else is using. So be creative and enjoy!!

This is an interesting and very valid point, but I think there are two kinds of people in the world: those who appreciate a (handcrafted) card, and those who don't. The former group of people will love your cards even if the stamp set or paper is not quite what they would themselves buy. They will feel fortunate you took time out of your day to think of them and make a card for their special occasion. And you may well inspire them to try something different! I know I am like that with the Christmas cards our Norwegian relatives send to us -- they are very unique in theme, style, and colour but they are so cool to look at!
