The kids and I were in the craft room when my hubby got home from work the other day, and when he came upstairs our 5 year-old daughter ran into the master bedroom to greet him saying, "Mum has a BIG problem!!" Hubby says, "Oh, what is it? Maybe I can help." Sweet dd replies in an overly dramatic voice, "She doesn't have a place to put all of the new paper she got in the mail today!" Oh, dear.
Fortunately, my dear hubby, who is very supportive and never questions my scramping-related purchases, just laughed. There are still 160 sheets of Bazzill sitting on my countertop though (well, not quite 160 - I already used some!)

I'm going to have to be very careful with my 7-year-old ~ I think I confide way to much in her lol! And I'm just assuming for now that my DH would rather be kept in the dark ;)

Have fun with that new paper!!

The other day, a friend and I went shopping, which is a real feat around here! We traveled 145 miles for her doctor's appointment so we shopped along the way!
We hit them all, Walmart, Lowe's, Bed, Bath & Beyond, etc. When we got home, I was showing my DH all the cool stuff I got for my newly painted kitchen/diningroom.
He watched and oooohed and ahhhhhed in all the right places. Then he got serious and said, "So, what did you buy at the scrapbook store? You mean there wasn't a Michael's?"
HAHA that is hilarious. My kids are 12 and 18 and they know if I get a package to run it in my scraproom before hubby gets home and never mention it again LOL the things we teach them.
Thank God I only have a dog--she's not telling DH a THING!!!
LOL until they come out chewing on a stamp or wrapped in ribbon haha... mine is great for dragging things out of my scraproom without me seeing her and brings it straight for his room to chew on it so i don't see her. One day she even dragged some loose ribbon i had all through the house.
My DH says it's a sickness and we run in packs. Silly boy! I have found the world of shopping through the internet. When I used to go shopping with friends, DH would say now use your best judgment if you want anything. UGH! I wouldn't buy much of anything. Now, he doesn't know...or he is ignoring all those names on our statements. Hummmm..
After a road trip on girls day out hubby always asks 'so what did you buy?' Being a golfer himself I try to speak in terms he can understand. So I always tell him that I bought a new putter and a dozen Pro-Vs!!! He seems to understand and doesn't bother to ask any big mouth kids that might happen to be around!
That sounds like something my boys would do. My DH is another that falls into the "what I don't know won't hurt me" category. One the rare occasion that he asks what I spent, my usual response is..."do you REALLY want to know????" That is usually the end of the discussion.
If my husband or I buy anything that's too much money, we just tell one another, "You really don't want to know." That seems to work for both of us... and neither of us do it too often.

Ha! Ha! My son knows that any package with my name on it goes right in my scraproom too before dh gets home! Sometimes he forgets to tell me and I'll go in and have a nice surprise waiting for me to open!
I have to hide my purchases from my mother. (Well, for 6 months of the year anyway. The other 6 months she's in Arizona for the winter.)
Did you get your 160 pack of Bazzill from QVC? I bought a 160 pack last August I think, 40 colors, 4 sheets of each color. One of the best purchases I ever made!!
My DD used to stamp with me ~ but now being 16 that's "uncool". And do you know the kid has not stamped with me in forever and she can walk into my craft room and say "hey, when did you get that?" and point out new things! Of course she has to say it in and outdoor voice too! So now I try to hide things or I say "I've had that"....

How on earth can you keep purchases from your husbands? I have all joint accounts with mine and he does the bills. So I could only hide my purchases for a month tops

Another perfect example of why my DH needs a hobby!!
ETA for Erin above: Offer to do the bills ;). My plan to not use CCs online anymore is to take an allowance and put it on a pay-as-you-go card. Anyone else do that?
Absolutely! The pay as you go card is the best thing since sliced bread. My hubby and I have joint accounts as well, so I use my "extra" money to make on-line purchases without him being none the wiser. And I thought I was the only one...

Well, I don't have kids either, but the dog busted me one day .... Went to my local stamp store (don't get there often so when I do it's usually a pretty big order) and left the bag on my chair in my stamp room. The dog went in snooping around and brought the receipt to my hubby!!! I told him that that was all I was spending on stamps/stuff that month. I had to behave for a while after that.
My kids totally rat me out, too. DD gets all excited about getting to stamp with Mommy and always blurts out things to DH about any new craft things I buy or any trips to a craft store. I don't exactly hide the purchases from him- all our accounts are joint-- but I don't just bring them up out of the blue, either.

LOL! Back before kids and before I found stamping I was really into Longaberger baskets. I once wrote in the check register "baseball cards" when I'd been to a Longaberger party. After DH finally noticed it became our running joke... there were several more "baseball card" purchases logged into the checkbook after that. ;)

A cautionary tail... I mean, tale!! Up until a couple of months ago, I only worried about the cats playing with loose ends of ribbon. Now we have a puppy and my stamp table is the one surface in the house that she has yet to explore ... and I've only been worried about her chewing up a stamp or choking on a brad!! Now... time to go make sure there are no receipts laying about!!
