Default My awesome thrift store stamp find

I adore Kliban cats, and have always wanted some rubber stamps, but the prices on eBay are crazy. Imagine my delight when I found seven Kliban rubber stamps last night for about $11 total! The rubber was dirty but nothing a little cleaner can't fix!

I know you all could share in my excitement.

Fantastic! I remember when Kliban cats first arrived on the scene. One fave drawing had the caption, "Cat: frequently mistaken for a meat loaf." : D

ETA: I'm mistaken. The whole quote was, "Cat: one hell of a nice animal, frequently mistaken for a meatloaf."

There also was a drawing entitled, "How to tell a cat from a meatloaf," with "Fig.1," a mealoaf on the left, and "Fig. 2," what looked like a meatloaf but with ears and a tail on the right.

I'm so jealous! What a great find. I've always loved the Kliban cats. I used to get calendars of them every year!

You can still get calendars! I added the 2017 one to my Amazon wish list.

It's always been a dream to find these stamps. I nearly peed my pants when I saw not one, but multiples!

O M G!!!! Are you kidding?? What a great score!!! High five!!! No wait...it's fist bump now right? Double fist bump!!!

You are not kidding about their prices on ebay. It's total lunacy but I suspect those are general collectors and not all stampers. It's bad for us when that crossover happens.

That's funny about the meatloaf.

Great find, I'd be stamping everything in sight with those stamps. $11 was a steal.

Very nice! Sometimes I think the people who price things don't really know what certain things are used for.

Then again, somethings are over-priced so it all comes out in the wash, I say!!

Recently I found a full opened bottle of Sparkle embossing powder made by Personal Stamp Exchange marked at 49 cents. I don't know if it's still good, but it sure looks pretty. I'll test it very soon.

Great score on the stamps! Love the fish with the candle in it

Mamaxsix - great score on the blocks!

You just never know what you'll find in a thrift store....

I volunteer at a local hospital that runs a thrift shop. All the proceeds go back to the hospital to help pay for equipment and to help with hospice. It's a great place to browse through and every year, they do a Holiday Open House where they put out Christmas stuff the second week of November. People line up 2 hours before the store opens to be among the first in the store to buy stuff! It's always the busiest day of the year! The store has regulars who come in almost every day to see the new stuff put out and to have a friendly visit with the staff and volunteers who work there. Plus, right now it's hot and humid in San Diego (like lots of other places) so the store offers a cool spot for folks who come in to shop.
