Default A Small Beef with Very Punny

I was so excited to get my SU order in the mail yesterday and spent the morning today mounting. In the past when I have ordered sets like Very Punny I have cut apart the saying and the picture and mounted the saying on the side so I could use it separately. The picture in the flyer for SAB showed a nice space between the picture and the words in Very Punny but when I got it, the words were set so close to the pix that on several of them I didn't want to take the chance of cutting them apart for fear of damaging one or the other. I know it's a silly complaint as I can just ink the words separately but it's more annoying when trying to place them "just so"-i'm just a bit disappointed is all. Didn't know if any of you had a similar problem with this set.

I cut mine apart with no problem. It was a tight fit for the scissors, but I didn't damage any of the phrases or artwork.

Yikes! I intentionally ordered this set with the thought that I would cut the words from the images and mount them separately. Thanks for the heads up on how closely they are set - I will practice on my cutting before it shows up!

I used an exacto knife for mine, since my scissor blade seemed a bit too thick to fit in the little space. The knife worked fine.

I used my hobby blade too on a few of them ... they are pretty close but I was able to cut and not damage any of the images or words.

I too cut mine apart. I hope I did a good job because it was a tight fit between the image and phrases.

thanks for the tip, I'll microwave and try with an exacto-one of the ones I left together was the "best fishes" and I really wanted that one apart as I have a lot of other fish stamps!

OHHHH! TJStamper, I just saw your avatar-what a cute pup. I'm in Marietta so I went to your site (Atl Dog Squad) and bookmarked. We have a golden, but when we're ready for another, I'll pull up your site! Has Dodger been adopted yet-what an adorable pup!!! I wish we could adopt one now!

You don't have to cut the words apart. Actually, you could just use a marker to color the image or the words if you only wanted one. I wish I thought of that before I cut it apart.

Since this set is so small - I'd use the markers to color instead of cutting apart.

I didn't have any problems using the Kai scissors. I love having the words and pictures apart. It was close on a couple but if you kind of bend the rubber, you can see how to cut it more easily (if that makes sense).

The paper snips work really well to cut the words apart from the image. They have a very sharp tip that works great for detail work.

I cut mine apart without any real problems, they do look really close together, but they are more than a scissor blade apart. Just do it would be my advice! ;) Don't be nervous or you'll make a mistake.

I cut mine apart separate. The only one I had a problem with was the fish. I just left that one.

I was too afraid to try to cut them apart.... they looked to close to me. I'm just planning on using markers.

I mounted mine, than 5 minutes later I decided I wanted to cut the words off, so I peeled up the part with the words, cut the words off with my paper snips, pressed the image back down, placed the words on the end and it was done. I had no problem even with the sticky rubber exposed and half the stamp stuck to the wooden block! And I am so glad I mounted the words separately.

I keep looking at Oh So Sweet and would love to get the chocolate off the strawberry and cherries so that I ink them on pads. There is just such a teensy space between. Has anyone attempted this? Exacto? Were you able to line them up again?

To line up simply eyeball or use stampamajig if accuracy is that imporatant.

I cut 3 of those sets a couple of days ago without a problem. There were a few that were tight but I just bent the rubber a little bit and that gave enough room to safetly trim apart.

So I got my courage up and microwaved the fish, since that was the only one left I really wanted separate, and took it off to cut apart. I tried to be very careful but ended up cutting a bit of the foam out from under part of the word. boo hoo. So then I got some of my scraps, carefully cut another piece of foam and fit it up under the fish words. It's one of those jury-rigged products but I stamped it and it works. whew.

Using an x-acto knife should make cutting these fairly easy.

I too used my Kai scissors to cut the words away from the image. It worked just fine, there were a couple that were super close and I just sort of bent the rubber a bit - bent the image from the words - and cut, it worked well. I was a little scared to try it at first but it came out just fine.
