moral dilemma

Okay...someone asked earlier about doing their own order and getting the hostess bennies...which I had planned on doing.... this is my question though-I am in a bi-monthly club, we agreed to order $25 each meeting. We are meeting this month and I want to order GOBS of stuff....Is it wrong to order my $25- $30 through the club and the rest on my own????? I would keep my commitment to the group, just not overly exceed it ;)

HELP!!! What would you do?????

SallyPilot 07-02-2005 04:02 PM

I don't think that there is anything wrong with that. You are fulfilling your commitment. I would do it just as you suggested. :)

Happy Heart 07-02-2005 04:05 PM

What could be wrong about it? As long as you meet the club requirements, anything else you buy is your own business. Why shouldn't you get the extra goodies for yourself? The hostess for the month is already guaranteed a hostess set and free stuff, so you're not taking anything away from her. I don't see any moral dilemma at all.http://forums.splitcoaststampers.com...cons/icon7.gif

Nothing wrong with your plan. You agreed to a set amount, not $$$ plus anything else we can squeeze out of you. :)

I just did that myself yesterday. My club meets at the end of the month, and I still have plenty on my wish list to satisfy my committment.

denier 07-02-2005 04:47 PM

i'm in a monthly club too. the only time i place a big order is when it is my turn to be the hostess. all the other months i place my $25 order and if i have more i want, i place my own for the hostess bennifits. there is nothing wrong with doing that at all. if you feel a little bad about it, then place your own personal order either a day before or after your club meeting. enjoy all your new goodies!!!!!!

SammyStamper 07-02-2005 04:54 PM

I agree with the rest. I have also been a part of a $25 a month for 6 month club and I would pay my minimum unless it was my month. Then I would order big to benefit from the hostess benefits. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

I don't see a problem with placing a sepertate order! I would as long you keep the commitment to your club!

Ditto :)!!!

As a demo, I want to chime in with my "it's not wrong at all" statement! I have had several hostess club members do this over the past couple years, as well as a couple who go ahead and place their big orders with the club just to help out whoever's hosting! It's great either way!

Estrovan 07-02-2005 07:24 PM

Nope - no moral dilemma at all! Go ahead - I encourage my Club members to do exactly that! Enjoy your goodies with a happy heart & no troubles!

jdmeeks 07-03-2005 07:15 AM

I agree with the others, provided that you've met your obligation to the club; then you should be free to do your own order and get the benefits! Enjoy!

scrappiemommie 07-04-2005 01:32 PM

Thanks everyone :) I figured it was okay as long as I met my obligation, but then again I felt like I was "taking something away" from the hostess of the month...

Happy 4th!

RoxyAg04 07-04-2005 05:46 PM

I'm with everyone else... as long as you fulfill your obligation, you're good to go!! Happy 4th to you too!!

WordTrix 07-04-2005 07:48 PM

Nothing wrong with it at all, and will be doing pretty much the same at a party I'm invited to later this month -- I'll buy a few items there, but I'm saving the really BIG order so I can earn a hostess set (or two) myself.

Hope you had a Happy 4th!

Heather

That's the only smart thing to do! But aren't you just a sweetie to even think about it! The worls needs more people like you!

kristransue 07-05-2005 07:45 AM

there is nothing wrong with that, enjoy placing your hostess order!

basurok 07-05-2005 07:50 AM

I do that quite a bit....I order from several demos....but there is one that I buy from more often because she gives me the hostess benefits and takes plastic. Not to hijack a thread...but I wish SU had a frequent buyer program that would extend benefits to their loyal/faithful customers. Usually I average $600 or more a year and it would be nice to have SU somehow track our purchases and send out inspiration sheets or some little goody every so often. The demos do what they can...but it gets spendy for them too.

Novell 07-05-2005 08:18 AM

I'm also part of a monthly stamp club and think there's nothing wrong with what you are wanting to do. I do place better orders when some of the other members are hostessing than with others, depending on their needs (have one friend who has little $$ so can use the free stuff) and what they tend to spend when it's my turn (you scratch my back, I scratch yours).

debsaddiction 07-05-2005 08:51 AM

I think as long as you are keeping your committment to your group you are fine. If there is much that you want to buy, I say go for it and get yourself the freebies!! That is one of the benefits of being a demo. Also, if you need to justify, just keep in mind that you can always use some of your freebies as incentives!

lbirus 07-05-2005 09:38 AM

Your good, but if you want to feel better just place a $30-$50 order with your club and keep the rest for you. That's what I do, then your "hostess" will be thrilled that you went over and you still keep your bennies. However, I wouldn't feel the least bit bad about only placing the $25 through the club though! She'll get her hostess stuff and it's all good.
YEA! NEW TOYS!

Basurok,
The demos do what they can...but it gets spendy for them too.

As soon as you said "spendy" I knew you were from MN... me too.
