Michaels's Sales flyer
Why is it when they put really good coupons in the flyer you get all excited thinking you might get a good deal and then........ All the good scrapbook and stamping supplies are on sale??????? Prismacolors are on sale cuttlebug stuff on sale, xyron stuff etc. All the stuff I would use coupons for. There is 4 coupons 2-50%, 1- 30% and the regular 40% coupon. I guess they want to get you in there to look at other stuff. Ok sorry to vent just wanted to use my coupons on cuttlebug stuff or higher priced items.

That's why I used my 50% off at Joanns. I tend to think about the my last visit... was there anything there that I still wanted... if not, I don't need to go back until I need something specific. Don't get me wrong I'm in there often enough.

Thats what they do to get you in there. Also if you notice, The item you may be looking for that is already on sale for a lower percentage than what the coupon is for. They do that so they do not have to let the expensive items like Prismas go for 50% off when they can put it on sale for 25% off. They are sneaky about that. They then hope that you will buy something else that you were looking for just to use your coupon - extra sale for them.
Sometimes just to my coupon up if I feel like I will buy a marker or Prisma or Dewert pencil.

I find that to be true, but I wait them out, I got my Cuttlebug with a 50% coupon, and my Prismacolors 36 count for 50% off. Yesterday they had a special 50% just for one day, just about everything was on sale, but I will not waste a coupon , it is better to use it on a 2.00 item then through it away, plus I have to go by them every day for work, so I am not going out of my way.

I don't get the flyers. Can anyone tell me on what days are the 50%, 40% and 30% good for?

They are so sneaky that way. About the only thing I can use mine for that I need/want are more watercolor pencils, which I'm assuming will be in the artist aisle. I've used coupons on magazines before as well - a little more inspiration never hurts, right?

It happens that way every time they have a 50% off sale. Very upsetting. I ended up spending way less than I would have because I want to buy prismacolor pencils but they are already on sale so I didn't buy them. Instead I bought a pack of translucent paper.

I'll probably end up using mine at JoAnns too. If I end up using them that is! I'm sure I can find something. I do want to get over there at the end of the week while JoAnns is having their Easter sale.

You can use as many coupons there as you want to as long as they are all different.

I'm so mad! I realized yesterday that the Friday coupon was only good until 1 PM! Poo. I was going to use it at JoAnns. I could maybe get over to Michaels over lunch but not JoAnns. Darnit! Plus it is snowing today.. A LOT. So I am not really inclined to go anywhere over lunch. Oh well.

Yep there just like that! I used mine on Martha S. Glitter. M's had a three pack of glitter and a glitter glue for $19.99 so I used my coupon for that. And then a Martha S. punch. I couldn't find anything else not on sale!

It might vary from store to store but I have had Michaels mark a sale item up to regular price and let me use the 50% coupon. It is worth trying.

I was in Michaels last night to buy extra 12x12 file folders for the really neat scrapbook paper carrier they have in the main aisle of the store, (I bought it with last week's 50% off coupon). I was going to use this weeks coupon for the extra folders only to find out they don't carry them How stupid is that!!!

It is very annoying. I also wish that every once in a while they would let you use it on Cricut items.

I take it that Michaels is not like Hobby Lobby. If something is 20% off but you have a 40% coupon, HL will let you use the 40%. I am guessing that you all have tried that at M and they won't do that. I didn't even know they were having a sale. Probably good as I don't NEED anything! WANT yes, NEED no!

There was a time when I was able to use a 40% off coupon on a sale item -- they would just put the sale item back to regular price before taking off the 40%. However, someone must have said that is not allowed because they don't do that anymore.

I was at Joann's last night and did not use a coupon. The items I needed were on sale and there was just nothing else. I skipped Michael's because I was too late for the 50% off. They use the coupons to get you in the door. Of course all the good stuff is on sale, but we search and search to use the coupon and so they are still making out in the deal. I have no problem using the coupon on an inexpensive item. I sometimes just pick something up for the kids.

I just came back from M's (and yes what I wanted was on sale). BUT..... as I was checking out the girls handed me my receipt and say to hold onto it. There is a coupon on the receipt for 20% off my entire (regular priced mdse) order and it is good for March 30th to April 5th. I guess it is something new they are trying.

So I tried to use my 50% off coupon this am at Michaels for the Cuttlebug. The coupon only says it can't be used on Cricut products. The CB box had a "Cricut" sticker on it, so they refused to honor the coupon. There was no manager available-??? If this is incorrect, let me know, cuz I will go back tomorrow-at which point they will not have any left, right???

I use to work at Michaels (part-time). I left about a year ago. I do not know if things have changed (which they may have), but here is my take on the Coupon and the Cuttlebug.......
I was in "constant" battle with the cashiers about the Cuttlebug and the coupon. Unfortunately the wording on the box of the Cuttlebug says something to the affect..... "made but the makers of Cricut". However - I would argue that it is not a cricut product. It is a ProvoCraft product.
At one point there was a communication that came out that clarified it was not a Cricut product.
Having said all that... I left about a year ago. Things may have changed. Personally I would phone Michaels head office to get clarification. If it turns out you "can" use the coupon I would go back to the Michaels and ask to speak to a Manager. I would insist on a raincheck.
Just thinking - the other place that may clarify it is the Michaels website. Look at the message board - I am sure someone has asked. The board is monitored so hopefully there is an answer.
If you do find out the ruling please post - I am curious. Good luck.

Hope this works: I went onto the Michaels website and found something from January 2008. Here is a "snapshot" of the discussion. Go to the very bottom of this post and I attempted to give you the link so you can print it off.

The coupon exclusion is for cricut products. You can use the coupon for Cuttlebug.

I bought my cuttlebug two weeks ago with a coupon at Michaels. They didn't even bat an eye. I was prepared to tell the lady it is a ProvoCraft product and not a cricut one, but I didn't have to.

THe main reason why Michaels coupons cannot be used on the Cricut items is because of Cricut themselves say so. The vendors have the whole say if their products can be put on sale and how much of a sale in stores it sells to. Hopefully over time, they will let them be bought with a coupon.
