Default Michael's

I'm going to the new Michael's in Hurst this weekend, and on top of scrapbooking stuff I was hoping to get some quilting stuff. Does anyone know if Michael's sells rotary cutters, acrylic rulers, fabric, etc?

I can't speak for your Michaels, but none around me (Central IN) sell fabric. Maybe you could find a rotary cutter, but I doubt you'll get the acrylic measuring stuff their either.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a certain amount of the clear acrylic rulers there. Martha Stewart's line has one and Michaels has a small section around where there yarn is (at least that's where it is my local M's) where they have other cutting mats and such. Their selection isn't big - not like you'd find in like Joann's or fabric store, but overall not a bad selection if that's your only choice. My Michaels only sells very minimal fabric (like less than a yard pre-cut stuff).

May I suggest that you call your M's and ask? I do it all the time. I hate to waste ANY gas by driving there.

Default More Michaels "stuff"

Look for the acrylic rules, water color paper, colored pencils, and markers in their art section. Scrapbook tape back in the framing dept.
Happy Shopping!
Cheers!!!

Thanks, Everyone! I can't wait to go. The pictures of the store online look great. It's no big deal if they don't have the quilting stuff. I was just hoping to kill two birds with one stone

Thank you! I saw her rotary cutter in the ad, and was wondering if would only be good on paper. And, it's on sale this week

Ctab.......As per the 2 new Michaels stores in my area (each open just 1 year), yes you will find the rotary hand cutters and the quilting rulers. The only fabric they sell is what is called Fat Squares. They are in either a package of 1 or in a bundle of 5-6. It's difficult to say exactly which section of the store you'll find the items in, but you will not find these items in the paper crafting isles.

I'd love to learn how to use the hand held rotary cutters, I just don't seem to have the knack for using them. They seem so easy, but in my hand, not so easy. I want to use them for paper, not fabric. There really must be some trick to using them that I'm missing.

Default There's a JoAnn's...

CTAB: Just around the corner from that wonderful new Michael's is a JoAnn's store. They have a great selection of everything a quilter needs. From their website, it looks like rotary cutters and the acrylic rulers may even be on sale! Also, I think that they have some of the quilting fabrics, including Debbie Mumm on sale right now too.

The JoAnn's is only about a block or two away from the Michael's, so it might be worth your while to check there if you don't find the quilting stuff that you want at Michael's. Either way, have fun shopping!

Thanks! I'll look the address up. I just moved to Texas so I've been slowly finding where everything is.
