I Cleaned My Messy Room!

You just need to organize it. It is a pain in the neck to do but once it is done, it is easier to keep in clean. I know it is easier said than done but I just did it.

I love it now! Things have it's place so it is easy to find. We finished it on Friday and I was in there all day yesterday and I am hoping for most of today. The creative juices flow much better now!!! LOL!

My husband teases me all the time about my messy craft room. It is my spinning/weaving room plus my stamping stuff. Usually you have to jump over stuff on the floor to get from my end to the other. I just tell him, that when the room is all picked up and neat, it means I am not doing anything --which is the truth!

I would agree with that. LoL. I clean everything every other week, but I like to work on the floor, which means there are a lot of things on the floor, all the time, and I need to jump over. When I work (I mean not stamping, but my electrical engineering thingie) or study, I like everything to be organized and neat, but that is not the case when I create. It's kind of two different persons in me. LoL

I am in the process of organizing my mess of a craft room as well. right now you have to jump to even get in the door. I hope we get it done soon, I am tired of having my daughter think my "toys" are her "toys" too since they are scattered all over the house right now.

My problem is once I get started I do not want to stop and clean up as I go so I end up with a very small space to work in!

I'v been trying to organize my stuff for months, and it never gets finished. Life always seems to get in the way. Now that the room's a mess, we're stamping on the dining rom table. Maybe I need to tell my dh to design my room and help me organize it for a Christmas present.

I have to agree djuseless...

I just redid my office not too long ago, and was thrilled with how much easier it was to find things and to clean up afterward!

I don't have quite as much stuff so my storage is smaller.
Found a set of drawers at BJ's and smaller drawers at Lowes

The shelves were from Target and the baskets from Michael's when they had a 50% off sale.

I'm really organized but I can't keep it that way. Like others, once I start working on a project I don't want to stop and clean. Then I realize that I only have a small pathway to my work space and I stop stamping and put everything away. I rarely loose anything so long as I eventually put it back in its space. Also, I have to label everything so when I have a brain fart I can still find stufff.

I love to organize and be organized! I have several pictures in my gallery of my studio. A few things to help you get started...

Have a plan and stick to it!

Sell anything you have not touched in 6 months.

Give everything a home and once you are done with it return it to it's home.

If you have an IKEA in your state utilize it regardless of the drive! They specialize in helping you make the most of your small or not so small space. Plus they have tons of jars, bottles, baskets and boxes at amazing prices! Think outside the box ex. I use the Bygel wall system of rods, baskets and cups for my markers, punches, pencils etc. It is made for the kitchen but is the best for organizing!!

HERE is a link to my gallery...

No matter how many organizational products I buy, I still have to overhaul the clutter about once year. Usually I do it at Thanksgiving, but I've missed it 2 years in a row!! (first due to hyperemesis, this year due to the baby. sigh)

Oh man..I have the same problem as all of you....about a 6" space on my desk which I use to make my card. I have the stuff on the floor and the "path"...I try to make use of the strategy where you take 10 minutes and clean up what you can...then do 10 minutes another time..and eventually it should be clean...Well I get distracted and see something else I wanted to make..seeing an embellishment or piece of dp may set me off in a whole different direction than my cleaning objective...Oh well...at least I'm enjoying myself and that's the point, right??
