Well......you see we were working on the spare bathroom tub....replacing the silicone caulk (ugly job). We have well water and the calcium is really built up on the tub. Sooooo, we pop online to get some ideas on how to get the calcium off the tub. One of the suggestions was to use drywall tape (the plastic mesh kind. Hey! I've got THAT in my stamp room. DH looks at me like I'm really nuts. Not the first time my stamp room has saved the day!

My little granddaughter lost some of the 'jewels' on her Crocs. I used CE to glue on some 'bling' flowers from my stash of embellishments to replace them.

DH needed the needle nose pliars (for holding small stuff for heat embossing) and I had them in my craft room in a pottery cup on my desk. Ditto the razor-blade knife (for cutting matte board for book covers). The oddest, though, was when DH's carbon fiber bike got a knick in the clear coating. He asked for my clear finger nail polish, which was in the craft room (for sealing the ends of ribbon or cord to keep them from fraying in bookbinding...I don't paint my nails with it at all, LOL!).
Wow. What great stories. I love the OP's story. We women do know how to use tools too. My boyfriend was impressed with my stash of tools. He particularly got a kick out of my little hammer I use for eyelet setting. He thought it was "cute"!!
What a great thread! The only thing my husband ever uses from my craft room are my SU glue dots. He loves them and he says they really stick. I have to laugh my dh says they have to be SU glue dots because the others do not stick as well.
My husband couldn't believe when he ran out of Q-tips that I have a stash of them (and cotton balls) in my craft desk - I'm going to have to hide them now that he knows they're there!! :mrgreen:
A few weeks ago we were putting up pegboard over the work bench and in my craft room. We needed to drill holes in the wall that matched holes in the wood pieces and the first ones didn't match the way he was doing it. So I said WAIT I have and idea. Went into my room cut a piece of cardstock punches a couple holes in it and made a little template. After that they all matched up on the first try.
DD's pants were too loose and not enough holes on her belt. Cropodile to the rescue. Punched another hole and it worked perfectly. E600 glue to try and fix DH's shoes.
At Christmas we were having trouble with the tree topper and my DH said I need a popsicle stick or something. So I went to my room grabbed a few and walked back and he was shocked that I had them AND I knew where they were. It was pretty funny.
My Dh also steals my magnets to use out in the garage and he is already thinking of ideas to use my new cricut expressions for. :-D

This is a great idea for me because every time I go to hang something, I screw it up because I don't line it up properly!! Thanks!!
just this morning as i was walking out of the house, my husband says "there's no way you have any disposable plastic gloves, do you?" to use while he's working on his truck engine. i'm thinking, "no way? but of course!"
My favorite "save" was when my hubby had rebuilt something on his bike (motorcycle), but the gaskets that were included in the kit were the wrong size. We traced the part onto lightweight chipboard, and I was able to use my punches to make him the right one. Love it when *I* have the right tool for the job!! :mrgreen:

ROTFL!! My BF said the same exact thing! Then he went with me to AC Moore one day and bought his own mini tool kit. Now, if anyone in the house needs a tool quick, like wire cutters or pliers, they come right to me!
My husband was repairing some drywall and forgot to get the tape when he got the plaster. He was in the middle of it and was getting ready to go back to the hardware store when I asked what he was doing. He admitted he didn't get something... he didn't want to tell me what, but I forced it out of him... He was so excited to know I keep drywall tape on hand!
Haha, love these stories! I'm amazed that whenever DH is doing stuff around the house or working on his R/C planes he'll come in my room asking if I have something and I have ALWAYS had what he needed, haha! It's hilarious to see him trotting off with my lil purple heat gun, haha!
AHH..My son races so the hubby and kid are always working on cars.. They use my rotary cutter and self healing mat for fiberglass cloth, my driemal for fine tune sanding, they have used my washers, and drywall tape. My hubby went up looking for something one day when I wasn't home and was shocked at all the stuff I had. I had to slow down on the shoppping a little! I look at every object as a scrapbooking item!!
My DH called me because he couldn't get some labels off of something. I told him to go to my craft room and on my desk was an amber bottle of Goo-Gone. He loved it so much he now uses it on everything.
I also used craft board for a template. My DH got all the new knobs on the kitchen cupboard doors perfectly without spenfing a dime on the template they sell at Lowes. I would not have thought of these things till reading them but we have done a few of them. My father had an antique hole punch that was for leather harnes making. When we were kids he would poke extra holes in shoe buckles and belts for us all the time and you know, it looked almost like a Crop-a-dile!

my dh stepped on his glasses, army issue ones. well, the plastic by the hinges broke and the arms could move in ways they couldn't before. i used crystal effects on the broken parts (but kept it away from the hinge) they work great now!
DH always uses my heat gun to get our wood burning stove going. He likes it because it doesn't blow the ashes around like a hair dryer. Often during the winter I will have to hunt down the heat gun when I want to emboss.
BTW, great use for the crop-a-dile! I'll have to remember that next time I have to punch extra holes in my belt.....(I wish!)
It was Easter egg time and my son wanted his plastic wraps over the eggs, granted we forgot about that until after we colored them all. I thought, hey, why not the heat tool for embossing! Worked like a charm!

I had my powder room downstairs faux painted (yellow with amber sponging) about 8 years ago. Well, the toilet paper holder came out of the wall and we had to repair it. I could not find the paint ANYWHERE. So my husband found some very light yellow paint we had and I went upstairs and started experimenting with my refills. I was able to combine a few refills and come up with the perfect match to my bathroom walls!!!

My dh needed a small file to file points down on one of his auger engines, "craft room" has one. I finally got it back not exactly the nice pink end I gave him, it had grease all over it.....
My little hammer and small pliers come in real handy for many jobs, he has!!!

ROFL These stories are delightful!
I'm married to Mr. Corporate Manager by day / Mr. Woodworking Lover by evenings. He LOVED my Cropadile demonstration on sheet metal! But invariably, he comes asking for my glue dots or my sticky strip for the strangest predicaments! ;)
DD and I wanted to paint a 1-inch red stripe across the kitchen wall, just below some stenciling we had done. We put up masking tape to mark the upper and lower edges and keep it level and even. We pressed the tape firmly into place with our fingers, but the paint was bleeding under the it. Then an aha! moment -- I ran to the craft room and came back with the brayer, ran it over the tape, and voila! We were able to paint a crisp, clean line.

My DH is a phtographer and he is always shopping in my room for props. He's used my aireburshed, crayons, quilling paper, and colored pencils. He also uses snot dots to the point that he has his own! Sometimes he just wanders around looking at my goodies for something new.
We had a tile on the stairs that would not stick, DH bought every adhesive known to mankind. Finally getting fed up I stuck a glue dot in the corner, held it in place for a few seconds while DH proclaimed it would never work, and that sucker hasn't moved since!;)

My DH makes model planes - the big sort that are radio controlled. Latest project is a 5 ft wingspan spitfire that he's making from a plan (not a kit) and he needed something to 'make little bumps on the fusilage' ????????????? If he'd said rivets, I'd have known what he was talking about - maybe he thought that might have been too technical!!
Versamark pen, silver embossing powder and my spare heat gun to the rescue!! Good excuse to buy new heat gun (well, that might be stretching it a bit!!) new pen and loads of new embossing powder!!
Now how many parcels can come through the door before my excuse of 'that's replacing the stuff you used' wears off!?!?!;)
The only thing I've ever had that came to the rescue was a bottle of shaving cream when dh ran out. He came running down and wanted to know why I had cheep men's shaving cream, and was amazed by the collection of hair spray, alcohol, oxi clean, etc...
sticky tape. my brother broke a dragon figurine he has on his desk. come running down into my craft room, holding it and the broken wing, and looks at me. "i need help" he says. so, i go over, grab my roll of sticky tape, and perform surgery on the dragon. VIOLA! no more broken wing.
and they've used my crop-a-dile as well.
