Martha Stewart Punches...Walmart carries it...
has anyone bought from walmart and Michaels and noticed a quality difference...?
I bought one from Walmart and one from Michaels...the one from Walmart seems a little more flimsy and weak...but it could be a bum punch...it was a border punch...
any info would be helpful

I've purchased from both and have seen no difference except for the packaging color. No difference in quality on mine.

I would have to say you got a bum punch. Both "types" are made by EK Success and the only difference (besides the price!!) is the color (I wish the WM ones were white too - I like that better than the green!). I have a TON of EK Success punches and they are fabulous - I've only had 2 that were defective and they were through SU! so they were replaced ASAP.

I use to work in retail and i had a buyer once tell me the following:
There is a factory that makes jeans. 20 jeans go to rack A and 20 more of the same jeans go to rack B. Rack A jeans are labled with our tag and sold in our stores for 19.99, Rack B jeans are labled with a designer tag and sold at say (Dillards) for 40.00.
Same jeans only difference is the "packaging" but still the SAME jeans.

Well guess what the punch from walmart stopped working. I was not happy...also one of the metal castings that punches tiny holes also fell out...I'm not impressed. I will buy one from Michaels and see if I end up with the same problem.

Hmm, maybe you can take it back to walmart and see if they will replace it? Becuase I have bought the MS punches from both Walmart and Michaels and have not had any issues with either except for the color difference.

I have a Martha Stewart punch to return to Wal-Mart. Sometimes it punches,
other times it won't. I bought a different MS punch from them and it works
great. I assume I just got a defective one. They are really good about replacing items for you.

I bought a MS scalloped border punch from Michaels and it is a bum punch.
As for WM stuff, they are getting stricter about what they will take back. I had some things to return recently and did not have the receipt. In the past WM has taken back pretty much anything and not cared if I had the receipt or not.
Now I was told you can return things without a receipt three times but after that "you get put into the computer on the list" whatever that means. I'll have to be more careful with me receipts now, usually once they are entered in the checkbook we throw them away.

That's what I was told too...this would be the first time I don't have a Walmart receipt...so we'll have to see if they'll replace it or not.

I have the Doily Lace punch bought it from M's and It seems like I'm gonna breack the handle when I punch cardstock...I think it is because it is so intracate. Anyone else have this problem If not I'm going to exchange it.

As I was reading this thread, I was thinking the same thing. I would take it back to Walmart and see if they will exchange it for you. I've never had a problem returning anything to Walmart- I would give it a try.

Hint... I've done this before...Re Buy the punch. Take back the defective one with the receipt (if they won't even exchange it, most store will replace a defective item)

Good tip...didn't think about that. I might have to do that if they don't replace it.

That is the one Ihave to return. one of the casting fell out...and maybe it's because it is more intricate but the spring in mine also feels like it's warn out already...I have to really mess with to get it punch...and I think in the process of that the casting fell out

I have also noticed that with the MS punches I having a hard time punching out PTI and some of the other thicker card stock. So that could be the reason as well.

It is the doily lace punch that I talked about in my earlier post that I am having so much trouble with and it has only been used a few times. When I
press the handle, it just won't punch and I keep trying and finally it will.
I haven't had any trouble with any of the other MS punches.

No difference in either for me?
There is a difference in the papers and cardstocks we use and some of the finer detail punches, have a very hard time cutting through the heavier weight.
EK Success designed these punches in mind for *general* crafting use andd we may be pushing that envelope a bit with #110 cardstock and cereal boxes covered with DP!

Hi.. my MS doily punch was given to me as a gift and I don't know where the lady purchased it, but I do know it seems flimsy and it won't punch through any kind of cardstock... and most times the paper gets hung up in it and gets torn trying to get it out... but I sure love the design so I keep fooling around until I get a clean punch... ~sigh~ I sure wish people would make products to match their prices now days... but its all about making that almighty dollar!!
God bless

Nyoka,
Try punching some waxed paper or tin foil then wax paper.
Sometimes this may help if there is just a burr hanging up the design.
