does anyone have a tutorial to make a ribbon flower by rolling or swirling the ribbon? It may be called a ribbon rose.

this is the inspiration
Product: Extraordinary Strapless Sequined Dress
you can zoom in on the flower.
My daughter bought a knock off of this dress for her sweet 16, but the knock off came with a prima-like flower in the middle and it is all crushed and not what she wants so I thought I might be able to find a wide satin ribbon that coordinates (her dress is turquoise with a green (almost olive) wide ribbon around the waist.
I am just awful with ribbon and sewing so I dont'think I can figure out how to do this, but I knew someone here would.

You can just run a basting stitch along one edge, pull up the thread and roll into a Rose shape. Take a few extra stitches to hold in place. Use really wide ribbon and fold in half for a nicer finished edge.

That photo looks like a strip of fabric, folded wrong sides together, that is then gathered along the raw edges and coiled into a circle. This blog has directions for something similar, made with a different type of fabric: Sew Much Ado: Tutorial: Fabric Flower Valentine Wreath.
If you don't want to sew, you can fold and glue the fabric instead: Creative Urges-Creative Blogspot: Fabric Rose Tutorial.
However, both of these examples are made with fabric rather than ribbon.

so this is very strange. I just picked the dress up from the tailor (yes an extra small was too big). I have been waiting to get it back to take it with me to match for a ribbon for the flower. I am in my craft room and the cat jumps on something and knocks down a stack of stuff and out pops a shimmer green (about 4 inch wide) piece of material, that I swear I have never seen before, and yes it is absolutely perfect for the dress. That is if my almost 16 year old approves.
i think it will make a perfect flower. doing the happy dance.

Here is a tutorial for a grunge paper rose...I would think the twisting that she does in the demonstration to create the rose could be done with ribbon or fabric as well.
the next best thing by lynne: My First Tutorial.....
