Poll time...
I got my SU order from my Club party and i ordered 3 sets and got 9 others between SAB and Hostess Free so now i have been trimming them.. My question is what do you do? Do you trim as you want to use set or Trim them all so its over and done with?
I trim them all at once, usually the night I receive them. I figure it's easier to do it when you are all excited to start using them. That way when you are in the mood to stamp, they are ready to go! Also, if you don't have the rubber scissors, GET THEM!!!!!! I have trimmed mine for about 8 years using generic scissors and finally purchased them with my Sell-a-Bration party allotment. OH MY GOSH!! What a difference!!! I cut about 13 sets in probably 1/3 the time it usually takes me and my fingers weren't sore! Kicking my butt for not purchasing them years earlier!!
I don't allow myself to stamp with any new set until I have trimmed and mounted them all. Once I have mounted, I stamp them all into my stamp folder that has images of all the stamps I own, then I allow myself to play!
I do have the SU scissors both of them so it does make it easy to do.. now i should take advice and stamp images so i know what i have i do have them saved on Word so i just go in and add the new ones but...that doesnt help with what they look like i guess its a great rainy day project for my son to do for me. So this Morning i said to my self i am going to trim up big blossom so i can use it for a CC and just kept on going 4 sets later i might as well get them all done then i dont have to look at them calling me... Thanks for input
I'm an obsessive trimmer. I have to mount all of my stamps within a day or two of getting them. Several of my friends mount individual stamps as needed and it makes me crazy!!

I trim them all at once. I don't want to loose my stamping mojo because I didn't trim my stamps first and that is the one I want to use. It always happens - I just need one of the new ones but didn't mount them yet!
I voted "all at once" I truely can't always do it all at once, but I do sit down to cut and mount as long as I can and will pick up where I left off the next chance I get. I try and not do any stamping until everything is mounted!
I'm still a sealer, so after I seal my blocks, I have a whole day to trim before I can mount them. I used to get impatient but now I just read on SCS while I wait.
I trim all at once. I also keep a notebook, each set is stamped on it's own page and put in a catagory so I can find what image I want and find it easier. I don't have space to have all my stamps out so they are filed in storage containers. As of today, with Feb's specials and now March's, I have about 25 sets that need trimmed. 2 of those sets are the Flex Phrases and I'm putting that off as long as I can. OK, I guess I had better get busy snipping.
I think I'm the lone non-trimmer. I generally only trim a stamp when I'm ready to use it, so some sets will have some mounted and some left unmounted. With sets I know I'll use all of, or that it's better to do all at once (E. Flex. Phrases), I'll just go ahead and do the whole thing in one sitting.

i have the flexi phrases also and i am putting those off too to many little stamps and trying to figure where they go ugh...oh and i am down to having 3 more to trim yippie...
I had a bunch of sets with SAB order too...I just sat in front of the tv and trimmed away. I think it only took about 2 hours for me to do all of the sets I got. ;)
I had the same thing happen that I got 10 sets plus 3 SAB sets I already had. I just sat down infront of the tv and got it out of the way, then they are all ready to use. Granted it did take me quite along time to do it, but it was a Friday night and I was able to do some catching up on Tivo. =)
I don't have a set rule. If I have time, I will trim them all at once, but if I need a particular set for a project i will just trim that and wait to trim the rest another time. I usually trim while watching tv or movies, so I try to save up my stamps for when there is a good show on.

You are soooo sensible!!
I try but right now I am behind. Sometimes I take them to work on weekends-especially when I have an odd shift and do some there.
Another thing- I photocopy the register before I mount- don't even have to stamp into my folder then!
I voted for 'other' this time.
Usually I trim all at once.
But...
when I placed my first big order, between my own stamps that I bought, and the SAB sets I earned, I had some 40 stamp sets to assemble! I decided I would assemble 2 or 3 sets a day, and that's how I got it all done. I had planned a party at which I would give away all of the extra SAB sets, and this was how I did it all by then.
I trim them all within a few days of receiving them. I just sit down and catch up with my shows on DVR or watch a movie. I hate reaching for a set only to find it isn't mounted yet. I don't have a single unmounted set in my craft room. Have fun with all your new rubber.
i trim all at once and then i stamp each set on a seperate sheet of paper to go into my binder. this is how i 'catalog' all of the sets i have.
happy stamping!
This is exactly what I do. I just wanted to add that I hate cutting my stamps.
It makes me so nervous.....what would I do if I ever undercut one of my stamps??? :(
I really wish that some of you lived closer to me - I received eight ( sets yesterday and haven't even thought about them yet. I am willing to pay big bucks (just kidding) to have someone mount them. About 25% - 35% of all of my sets are still unmounted - I just HATE trimming and mounting them. That's probably why I repeatly use the same sets over and over.
I only buy one or two sets at a time. I can't have them sitting there unmounted. It really bothers me. And, I know I am weird, but I kind of like cutting and mounting them. Maybe it is just because I am so excited.
I do them all at once too. It just seems so much easier to have them ready to go whenever I am! I just sit in front of the tv and cut since I find it difficult to watch tv unless I have my hands occupied anyway! This last order I had 5 sets and I cut them all out but was too tired to get them mounted. So the next night I mounted them. I liked doing it that way, kind of broke it up! And it *seemed* to go faster too!
I used to try to trim all at once, but my fingers get sore from all that cutting. I might do 3 or 4 sets at once. Then I need a break. There's lots of other good stuff to do.
ditto! what most pp said, I do mine all at once. I am usually so excited to try them that I just sit down immediately after Mr.Brown leave my doorstep, and whip 'em out!! I can't wait 'till Mon. when my kit comes and I get to mount 8 new sets with my NEW scissors!!!! I do have to say though, when I was mounting "merry mini's" for my Mom, I was cursing! lol. It was a pain in the rear to mount 28 of those MINI stamps.
I trim all at once. I love the feeling of having all the sets done and ready to play with. I don't like having them sit on the shelf unmounted. I don't think I could leave one half mounted either. I just wouldn't feel right!;)

You apparently don't have any of the flexible phrases sets........ AAAAAACCccccccckkkkkkkk. I love the stamps, but mounting two sets of them - even about a year apart - nearly made me crazy!!
You'll LOVE your new scissors - I just got them, too. Have fun with them and your new sets!
I voted other so I guess I should explain...
When I get a big order of stamps I cut and use the one or two set that I NEED to use RIGHT NOW! Then I go back and do the rest after my creativity cools a little. I always save the fussy little saying stamp sets until I am bored out of my head and don't want to do anything at all! They are just a pain. Then there are the alphabet sets...I don't think I have more that two or three of my alpha sets completly cut...I just go cut a letter as I need it. Yikes, no wonder it takes so long for me to stamp a single project! LOL!

happy stamping!
I do the exact same thing. I was hostess in February, and so I ended up with 11 sets between hostess goodies & SAB. I mounted them all the day I got them, then stamped them for my binder. I'm always so glad to get it done. Then it's playtime!
I trim them all in one sitting usually. Doesn't matter how many sets. I've even sat and mounted my customers stamps as well just because. There is just something about the feel of new rubber stamps and the excitement of being able to use them when they are done.
I hate trimming so I usually do them as I need them! It would probably be better to do it all at once, though, so they'd be ready when you're inspired to use them!

Gotta trim right away - some people say to keep them unmounted in case you want to sell them later, but I wouldn't buy them in the first place if I hadn't thought they'd be something I'd use.
