Gold paper
Hi all!
I am making wedding invitations for some friends. They are Chinese invitations, so they found some red paper as well as some gold paper. HOWEVER, they live over 2500 kms away!! (How many miles is that?!?! )I cannot find the gold paper they want! The gold paper is very shiny, and it is a bit stiff. It is kind of hard to describe, but you can almost see your reflection in it, it's so shiny! Does anyone know of a source for similar paper? (Online, perhaps?) Michael's and our local stationary store both do not have it...

Hey there!
I would try Western Educational -- when Marcie and I went there, we found LOTS of different metallic papers, and I did pick up some very shiny silver stuff. It's worth a shot, and even if you don't find what you need for the invitations, I GUARANTEE you'll find *something* you *have* to have!!

Or, if you really can't find it, tell them to mail you some. Or send them samples of some other stuff and ask if any of it would be a suitable replacement!

I just did a peek through my paper stash. I picked up some Hygloss foil paper and foil board (more like cardstock) at an M's clearance sale a while back. This gold is shiny, no texture. Perhaps if you search on Hygloss you can see if that works for your project.

Have you checked with some of the many local scrapbooking stores in Edmonton? Urban Scrapbook and Treasured Memories both carried many vendors, Western Educational has a lot of stock and are also very helpful and willing to go the extra kilometer for a customer with specific items in mind. There are also three places in Leduc.

Try online at California Papergoods. I've bought quite a few papers from them, all excellent quality, good prices and wonderful customer service. Here's a link to the page that has the glossy gold foil (just scroll down the page a bit.

You might want to check out their other papers, too. Then, click on the their home page link and go check out all the other craft products, tons of stuff.

This may not be what you want, but a year or so ago I bought 3-4 huge gift bags (at the dollar store) in gold and silver metallic. Not heavy like card stock but since they were gift bags it was fairly sturdy. I just cut out what I need for mats, etc.

I believe you are describing gold mirror paper. My LSS carries it and they get it from www.thepapercut.com It is expensive, $1.00 for an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.
