Lucky JulieHRR

Another thread sent me to Julie's blog, and what do I see there?

Julie up close and personal with the Queen of Crafts, Carol Duvall.

And thank you for sharing your excitement with your readers. I would be unable to function!

BTW - is Carol Duvall doing any new shows?

GET OUT!!!

Ohhh, I'm off to check it out! TFS!

redapron 07-25-2006 09:27 AM

I saw her blog before your post. I just dropped my jaw in wonder and amazement. I so admire Carol for the same reasons Julie mentions. It's nice to know she's just as dear in real life as she seems on her show.

Most of my crafts I learned from my Aunt Mary. She was a tiny bit like CD in that she did ALL kinds of crafts and used all kinds of STUFF in the process. So everytime I see the CD show, I'm grateful to my Aunt Mary for starting me on this lifelong love of crafting. Carol just keeps that love going everytime I see her.

Julie HRR CONGRATULATIONS!! That is absolutely awesome news. I must go to her blog and check this out.

Hey, fellow Carol groupies!!!! Yea!!!! I don't believe Carol is doing any new shows--but I didn't think to ask.

To be honest, I could barely get the words out of my mouth as I met her and was basically reduced to a puddle. I finally managed to squeak out a, "May I please shake your hand?" And, at that point, decided I needed to quit blubbering like an idiot before I said something stupid, UKWIM?

Then, at the Petaloo booth, when I saw the photo ops, I jumped in line. They were only taking 75 photos; I was 32. Then, a lady had to leave and she gave me her number and I was bumped to 29.

I mentioned that we had already met an hour ago, but I just couldn't resist an opportunity for a photo with my hero! I didn't talk long with her as the line behind me was looooong, and I didn't want them to hafta wait either while I droned on.

She is just THE COOLEST!!! I will treasure that moment all my life.

How cute is Julie, you can tell she's thrilled!

Carol stopped doing her show about a year ago :(

MSBetsyZ 07-25-2006 09:47 AM

Lucky girl is right! Carol's been my idol for YEARS now! I can even remember her waaay back when on that morning news show when she was that "craft lady"!

EllenH 07-25-2006 09:50 AM

Awww yes - the moments we all dream of!!! Julie I am sooo thrilled for you - I too dream of meeting her some day. I remember the first show she did - I think it was together with Rob Weller and it was a "home" type show. I fell in love with her instantly - in fact I will admit to watching reruns of her shows to this day!!! Thank you for sharing this joyous occasion with us here in stampersville!

DeborahB 07-25-2006 09:52 AM

Oh, Julie, you lucky, lucky duck! Congratulations on realizing one of your dreams! Carol Duvall is my crafting idol also, and I hope to have a chance to see her in person, if not actually meet her, at a Stamp Convention here in the Detroit area on August 5. Wish me luck! :D

I'm so glad I saw this thread! Julie, I enjoyed your blog; so many interesting things to check out there. Your picture with Carol is just the cutest---you both have wonderful smiles. Congrats on getting to meet her!

JulieHRR 07-25-2006 10:18 AM

Thanks so much for the kind comments on the blog. I sure do have fun http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...ffeescreen.gif--and it's so nice to know some of you enjoy stopping by and havin' a bit of fun with me! http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/grouphugg.gif

Linda--I will be wishing with all my might you do indeed get to meet Carol in person. She is just the BESTEST!!!! http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...loveshower.gif

SilverDragoness 07-25-2006 10:46 AM

Wow I'm so jealous. She is was one of the few crafting shows I could stand to watch. So many have hosts that grind on my nerves and don't ask questions when you're wondering and do ask questions when it's way too simple. Carol always managed to ask the right questions for my personal taste and is just all around awesome.

Carol Duvall has hosted tv crafting programs for years. I think she started by doing a segment on a local station. Most recently she has been on Home and Garden tv (HGTV) with reruns on DIY - Do It Yourself network. She is involved in so many crafts - with a variety of guests and also demo'ing herself.

Great pix. You two could pass for being related!

Thanks! We don't have TV crafting shows - just the odd demo of something dreadful on the shopping channels. So JulieHRR still reigns as the Queen of Crafts in my village!
