Default It looks like a Bella...

Hey all! I was just blurfing and came across THIS. Isn't that an adorable card? I love it! At first I thought is was a Bella, but I was just checking out Em's stuff yesterday and didn't see it... Then I noticed it was a Pink Petticoat image. Wow, the are remarkably similar! Has anybody else seen these images?

I was wondering if those were stamps. Aren┤t this just pics to download? They really look similar!

That is really very weird. They look almost exactly like bellas, but I agree with Coni, I think they are not stamps, just images. And truthfully, I think that makes it even worse because it undercuts Emily (beside the obvious copyright issues).

Oh yeah...you for SURE do not want to look at this.

I love to assume the best in people, but unless Em has some long-lost twin, these are too strikingly similar to me.

The only saving grace is that they are not stamps, so none of us would want them anyway...I'm stretching to find something nice to say, can you tell?

I've used images from Pink Petticoat and you do download them. There actually really neat to work with. As far as the similarities, I guess it could be looked at that way but I didn't make the connection. Since this isn't the companies main line and if you get right down to it, a lot of companies have similar images I don't have a problem with it.

i've purchased downloads from Pink Petticoat as well. i also own my fair share of bellas

there are definitely similarities with some of the images, but that's also true for many other images out there. and, there are just as many differences. honestly, i don't know how long PP has been in business, but just because you've heard of Stampin' Bella first, doesn't mean they were first.

i love my bellas, and i love em too, so i'm NOT saying anything bad. i'm just saying that maybe the assumption that PP copied bellas concept isn't accurate. we shouldn't assume the worst in people.

ps-there are things on the PinkPetticoat site dated spring of 06, which is earlier than em's blog. i know she started her blog after her business got going. so, seems like they both may have started around the same time. maybe they're just inspired by the same artists...

Pink Petticoat has been around for a fair while, and I knew them before I knew about Bella's. I have downloads from Pink Petticoat and stamps from Bella, but then I also have other stamps from other companies that also are similar....I personally think that this 'style' is just in at the moment hence why the are a like.

Think about it, there are loads of owls around at the moment they all look the same to me but every stamp designer seems to be realising an owl collection.

There are a lot of harsh words in this thread ~ a little sad. I also love Pink Petticoat and Bella. The Pink Petticoat images are not stamps ~ you print them out & color away ~ as for who came first ~ who knows, but I really doubt either have hurt each others business in any way. IMO, they are each different enough, that they are all a must have (now if only I'd win the lottery...).

But I might add ~ that both of those wonderful companies have taken my money away from SU... just thought I'd add a little negativity as well... just saying...

These are a little too close to be just considered a coincidence, KWIM? It reminds me of Nichole Heady's blog post a while back about being a trend setter, then having people copy you. It's sad, but true.

Interesting... I don't see anything said here as harsh. These images are very similar...

Who draws the images? Maybe one person draws both and sells different images to the different companies. There are always a lot of issues crop up in the machine embroidery circles when a company sells clip art for digitizing to more than one person. Two different people can put out embroidery designs of the exact same image.

Trends are trends. I don't believe any one person starts them, but a lot of companies and people sure jump on them, lol! The owls are a very good example of that.

It's just so easy to jump to conclusions without all the facts, kwim? I've always thought Em's images look a lot like another, older company's images. So what? Can somebody really think that stick figures are copyrightable? If you prefer one company's images over another, fine. No need to accuse or insinuate that there are sinister motives involved.

i noticed this company a while ago and a lot of the other lines that they carry look stamps already out there. cute stuff but to me they look like knock offs of another great stamp company i am a huge fan of.
i will stick to the the companies i love and i prefer stamping, not printing.
