Default Looking for Wizard of OZ type ideas

Our sorority has an evening coming up and I'll be doing invitations. The theme of the party is the Wizard of Oz (don't ask me why...it was a surprise to me too) and was wondering if any of your creative ladies have any ideas about what could be on the front of the card. SU (which is mostly the stamps that I have) doesn't really have anything that would fit...that I can think of. So...any ideas?
TIA
Lynn Mercurio

If you have shoes stamps, you may be able to do red glitter on them and make them look like Ruby Slippers.

Also, Viva Las Vegas Stamps has some wizard of oz themed stamps.

HTH,

I have several Wizard of Oz stamps. If you're willing to pay postage, you're welcome to borrow them!

Wow, that is wicked generous (pardon the pun). But I couldn't....I would just "melt" if anything happened to them. I'm hoping that I can come up with something that I can modify...or perhaps already have...I have looked at Wizard sites and several things come to mind....yellow brick road...no place like home...emerald city...and of course, Ruby Slippers. It will be interesting to see what I finally come up with....considering I lived in Kansas for 23 years, you would think I would have all kinds of ideas...oh well.
Thanks again for your generous offer.

I think the yellow brick road idea is cute. You could have the front say "follow the yellow brick road to......." You could make a yellow brick road out of the new Eclectic Backgrounds stamp set on pg 165. Hmmmm.

Other related themes could be Lions, Tigers and Bears.
No place like home, I love that movie if you can't tell!

I made a Wizard of Oz themed invite for a friend's birthday party in January. I searched for the perfect shoe stamp for weeks and never found it. I also considered having my own stamp made from line art, but wasn't happy with my test runs using different ink/embossing powder/glitter combinations. Then I found inkjet embossing paper, which totally opened up a whole new world of possibilities. I edited a great photo of the ruby slippers and added the text "Toto, I don't think we're in our thirties anymore..." We printed that on the cardstock, heat embossed it with ultrafine clear powder and cut it down to fit the front of our gate-fold invites.

I'll try to scan and post it after work.

I did a WOO-themed card for a coworker named Judy Garland (no, really! Garland is her middle name) who retired:

I colored the shoes in red and did the Dazzling Diamonds over the entire block for each shoe so it was all sparkly IRL.
If you have anything with a scarecrow on it, you could use that...do some song lyrics on the front from "If I Only Had a Brain" or else do "We're off to see the Wizard". HTH.

Here is an idea:
If you could do this with several pieces of cardstock such as a sky blue (for what else but the sky), goldenrod, for the road, then a light green to border the road. You will have to be creative and get an Emerald Green and cut in the shape of the Emerald City (Or look on eBay for stickers, or stamps)

Now to asemble, start by matching the blue and the green in a landscape design. Cut the yellow so you have a forced effect of going away from you to a point, so you are on one end of the road and at the other in the distance is the Emerald City. Then simply make a quick brick pattern on the yellow and glue in the middle up to the point where the green and blue meet. Make sure it is in the middle of the card at the base. If you have a small flower design, Use a pink craft and stamp along the green to make the field of Poppies. Use Emerald Emboss or Glitter to make the City Shine!

On the Brick Road-What you want is the view to go to vanishing point to disappear over the horizon with the Emerald City looming in the distance, the sky and the field of poppies borderingjust like in the movie. I don't think it would be necessary to include characters or anything. Just that scene would be an indelible image in anyone's mind.

I will try to piece something together to give you a visual! if it is too late I am sorry I just stumbled across the forum But hopefully if someone has a little girl they could use them for a birthday party or some other event!

Thanks!

The OP was made 5 or 6 weeks ago, but I just had to look for stamps. The Stamping Ground sells them here...

My favorite line from the movie, and one I use on my kids regularly is "and what would you do if you had a brain?" said ever so sweetly, as Judy did. Maybe that could be the front (if you find a scarecrow) and inside the reply about attending your party...

missybdesigns.com has this witch with the phrase "don't make me get the flying monkeys" and "are you a good witch or a bad witch". I think that would be cute.
