I keep an up to date inventory of everything I have and check it before I order anything.
Well, In May I pre-ordered a die set. A couple of weeks ago I ordered the same set from another place. I forgot I had it on pre-order from another site.
Today I got a shipping notice my pre-order die set just shipped. groan!
Now I will have two of the same set :(

Sizzix mini petals die for flower making.
I will keep it because I can cut two sets at a time. It will be convenient, but I never would have intentionally bought two sets. I have plenty of time to roll the die through the machine a few times when I need more petals

Oh my golly, you gave me a good laugh. Thanks its been a rough week and I really needed the laugh but I'm sorry you are a member of the triples club, double is bad enough.
I was finally putting all the new setd onshelves in my revamped and purged stamp room yesterday and found i have 2 SU Sweet Essentials sets. Do you have it Barbara? If not please pm me and I will gift it to you.
Hugs.
Have you ever seen Blue's Clues? I always take my "handy dandy notebook" with me when shopping because I've been a member of the doubles club too! ;)
Herein lies the source of my problem LOL. I have NEVER inventoried my stuff and I, like all of us lovers of this paper crafting, have lots of stuff. Also, for the very first time since I began stamping over 10 years ago, I finally have space to set up a studio. I am in the studio set up mode now and it will be into next year before I'm through BUT once my studio is set up I will begin the long and arduous process of inventorying my stuff. This will be a real eye-opener for me, I'm sure hahahahaha  Once I know what I have, I can carry a "handy dandy notebook". WOOHOO!!!

Perhaps you lovely ladies would be interested in scoping out this thread: Evernote vs One Note by Betmey at Splitcoaststampers
It's a very useful app that syncs across all of your devices (computer, tablet, smart phone, etc.), so you can keep your "handy dandy notebook" right on your phone and have it to reference when you're shopping.
Queen - the best time to inventory (in my opinion) is AS you're putting your room together. You could snap a pic of each thing as you're putting it in its new home and have it right there in Evernote, and not have to touch everything again (or remember where you put it)
I think I should be called the "Exalted Grand Pooh Bah" of the Doubles Club. I sometimes buy doubles On Purpose , so I will be sure to always have another one of whatever it is that I love so much!

So am I. I usually do it with stamps though. My sister and stamping friends just love when I order the same thing twice, or three times, cuz I give it to them. :-D
Oh, don't worry, there are LOTS of us who have done that very same thing. I don't pre-order anything anymore because I just forget about it because it might be 3 months later - and I have doubled up twice now because of it!

My current priority is to get my stuff out of boxes and into my storage units. I'll have 'like' groupings but nothing permanent at this point.
Next year after I've been using the studio for a while is when the 'real' organization will begin because I'll have a much better sense of what's going to work for me organizationally. When I decide permanent locations and move things around, I think your suggestion is the way to go - great idea, thanks !!

Good idea! I think in self defense I need to join the "anti-pre-order" club. ;)
The problem is with some of this stuff if you don't per-order it you will never get it. Everyone sells out as fast as they get the items
This came over 4 months after I ordered it

I TOTALLY get where you're coming from! I don't have anything in a "permanent" location, and I've been in this room for two years! I rearrange it every few months or so, and still haven't landed on anything that makes me happy in the long term. Happily, I'll have to try all over again in about a year - we'll be moving across the country! I say "happily" because I'll be leaving behind anything I don't absolutely LOVE passionately, so I'll have fewer items to clutter the room with. I've already started purging
Gregzgurl...moving to Vegas? would love that. Can never have too many stamping friends.
Blessings.
Is that where you are? Because yes, that is one of the places we are considering! We lived there for a year before we had to move back to New York to help Greg's parents and loved it. My kids/grandkids are mostly in Utah, but we refuse to live there again (had enough snow to last us several lifetimes already). We may be farther north, though - Mesquite or possibly even St. George (yes, I know that's in Utah, but they get much less snow). We're doing a recon visit at Thanksgiving...
