If you are buying Sakura pens, I would suggest buying a "stardust" pen first. It is a fun way to add subtle glimmer to your images.
My local office supply sells gelly roll pens, and glaze pens. Most gelly rolls can be purchased individually, and the glaze pens come in packs of two.
Try the black and sepia glaze pens first before buying more.
I'm not sure you can buy souffle pens without buying the whole set. But I wouldn't buy the souffle pens is if you didn't really like the glaze pens. The souffle' pens are lighter and more translucent, in sherbet colors.
Me? Oh, I bought 'em all and love'em. I use them to "paint" butterfly wings on glossy cards stock. The ink dries slow on glossy, so it can be pushed around to a lighter hue with a damp paint brush.
