Printing images from the computer to use on cards?

I came across a cute printable image online of a snowman and I thought to myself how cute it would be if this were a stamp to use on Christmas cards. Never even occured to me that I could probably print some images out onto cardstock, cut them down and color them to use on my cards.


Has anyone ever done this and if so, how did you like the results?

On one of the other threads you were asking about how digital stamping works. This is a perfect example of it with the exception that most digital stamps you have to pay for and they send you a downloadable file. I use digital stamps sometimes and like the fact that if I need a specific image to finish a card and its 2 in the morning, I can usually find one, pay for it and have it at my fingertips in no time.

I have done just that with free digital images. Just a few things to think about.

I like to choose images that are large so that when I reduce them to card size the lines making up the image are finer rather than bold.

Check your printer ink to see if it is compatible with your coloring medium. Mine tends to bleed into everything except colored pencils. I either have to be super-careful or use something dry.

I've done that before and my one piece of advice is to go over the print with your heat gun after printing. Seems to keep the ink from bleeding.

I use free coloring pages quite often. Just google for them.
If you copy them into Word you can adjust to the size you want to use.
