Question Long shot? Arrow stamp for birth annoucements...

OK, so I came up with what I think is a cute idea for birth announcements for our surprise number five that is due in September. I am going to use the verse from Psalm 127:4 and 5 which is..."Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." I was thinking it would be really cool if I could find an arrow stamp and versa mark it as a backround for the verse. Anyone know of one??? Or how to make one using another stamp? THANKS SO MUCH!!! Janet

Close to my Heart has an arrow in a set called "Road Trip"... I don't have it, but maybe if you need just the arrow in a certain color, I could stamp a few of the images at my upline's house and send them to you?

There is one is this clear set of stamps by Rhonna Farrer. This is just one site I found that offers the set, but I'm sure there are lots more.

I know it would be cheaper if you could find just an arrow stamp and not one in a set, but this is the only one I could think of. Arrows have been so popular in scrapbooking in the past year, so I feel like there must be more out there!

If you have any long skinny bird-house stamps, I have used one in the past for an arrow by just stamping it on it's side. The birdhouse stamp I have happens to be CTMH and it looks exactly like an arrow because it is very long and skinny. What is neat is that you can make it go either direction by just the way you stamp it on its side.....Just an idea......

Thanks ladies for the suggestions. I looked up "Road Trip" on Ebay and it seems to have only cars, airplanes and vans...no arrows. I don't have a bird house set either. I tried searching other companys for just an arrow with no luck. Anyone else seen one anywhere? TIA

Why don't you make your own arrow - in the manner of Jolie style 3-d stickers. A triangle brad at the top (or a triangle photo corner with silver embossing on it), a toothpick for a shaft and some fibers jammed in a slit a the bottom for feathers. The arrow could be used at the top of the card with the saying hanging from it like a sign...might work...

If you run out of options, you probably could just download a nice arrow from clipart. Insert it all over a page where you want the arrows, and change the setting to watermark so that it will print real faintly. Then just print it on your background paper. Anyway, worse case scenario, you could give it a try.

Another idea, what about spending the time (in the beginning) to actually make a template shaped like an arrow out of stiff cardboard and then make the invitation itself in the shape of an arrow instead of stamping an arrow on it. I think that would be cute, it could face upwards or to the right or left......Maybe it would work.....You could make the invitation one that you don't open up so you would have to deal with cutting throught two layers. Is this making sense?

Have not found a stamp of an actual arrow, like you would shoot with a bow. The closest facsimile I found is on this page.... Native American Stamps

Searched the rubber stamps on ebay... most have Cupid or hearts with arrows. Also a cool Pierce Arrow (antique car) stamp.
Google is not much help because there are so many arrow rubber stamps that would just be used for business or school - the square boxy kind, sort of like a sign post.

Could you make one out of the extra rubber you have when you mount your stamps? Maybe stick it on a piece of wood and you're all set Won't cost much (if anything) either.

As another idea, why not try to make your own with some thick craft foam? Cut a little triangle and a rectangle and even the little bitty triangles for the back of the arrow, then glue them on to a wood block or piece of plastic. It would be cheap and easy and would probably work just as well as anything else.

Just a side note about the verse. I am the oldest of five kids, and that is the verse that my dad read, and was then convinced that we were to have five children in our family. Mom said, that if number five had been number one, she would have been an only child. Teehee. Good luck with your new addition! And congratulations.

CHALLENGE to OLD SU customers.....Name that set!
There is a retired SU valentine set that has an arrow....It's a set of bold hearts and an arrow. I can't remember the name, but I might have it buried deep in my closet!

Jess I was going to say the same thing but use the cut rubber from your sets when you mount them.......
Seems like it would not be too complicated??!

Oops, I goofed! The CTMH set I was describing is called "Road Signs"... Sometimes the typing fingers are faster than the brain!

I just stumbled on the set today on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll..._promot_widget

If not on the B/S/T forum here on SCS fr a request to others here for the set - this might give you an idea of how you'd like your arrow to look.

I think going with the excess rubber from an SU set should do the trick just fine.
