Default Newbie needs help with gamsol

Hello there! I am fairly new to stamping and I'm just getting around to trying some of your techniques. I have everything to try the gamsol/colored pencil technique, but I'm a bit confused about what type of ink to use to stamp my image. Will the black soot distressing ink work? What about StazOn? Is one better than the other?

Thanks!

I use either stazon or palette hybrid ink...either is OK as far as I'm concerned. Not sure about the distressing ink as I've never used it for this. HTH!

I use either staz on or brilliance ink and they both work fine.
Good luck!

I haven't used Stazon with mineral spirits yet, since Stazon is a solvent based ink and mineral spirits are also a solvent, and I would expect a solvent to smear (or remove) a solvent based ink. I've been using Ranger Archival, and I'd love to try Palette Hybrid, but I haven't come across any in my shopping travels yet. I figure that almost any non-solvent ink would work fine with mineral spirits/gamsol.

Neither the StaZon nor the SU Basic Black smear with this technique and I've used them both. The mineral spirits is not alcohol based so it doesn't break down the ink. Glad to hear about Palette Hybrid working too.
