I like EZ Mount stamps - unmounted rubber that have a cling on the back that is awesome and sticks to acrylic blocks for stamping!
Sunday International sells about 6 or 7 companies EZ Mounts. I love Posh Impressions - they come in sets on plastic boards that can go in three ring binders or single stamps. Sunday International sells them - really great customer service too.
Unmounted can mean rubber die only, rubber with a cling cushion, or clear acrylic stamps. (Of course, as with SU, it can also mean taken off of the wooden block).
If you like rubber, I think The Angel Company (TAC) has some of the best prices and the quality is excellent - you can find a demo here on Splitcoast or I will refer you to mine. Gina K also sells rubber with a cushion, the designs are wonderful, and her service is incredible.
Acrylic stamps come in so many styles and price ranges I don't know where to begin. My personal opinion for the best quality are Papertrey Ink, Verve Visual, Penny Black T is for Transparent (can be found at www.hmstamps.com), Crafty Secrets (vintage), My Favorite Things, Kitchen Sink Stamps (amazing multi-step stamping). It all depends on your style. Each of these companies has a range of stamp set sizes and prices -- I choose quality first. And they all have INCREDIBLE service.
You will find many companies with banner ads here and I make new-to-me discoveries all the time. Many sites will offer you a choice - mounted or unmounted - and you can see the considerable difference in cost on their sites. Cornish Heritage Farms comes to mind and they have a wide variety of styles to choose from.
There are lots of wonderful companies out there -- I do have too many stamps, but I LOVE them!! I hope you find something you really enjoy ;)
Okay ladies... I know many of you will have great recommendations too!! And then I had better unsubscribe lest I find another 'must try' company
I have no idea, hahah! I am so new at this new adventure. I have just a couple that I picked up here and there. I am not quite sure what's better.
Is there a difference?

Wow! Thank you ladies! Overwhelmed now. hahaha! I wish y'all could come over and help me with this. haha! Thank you again I will check out those places.
My favorite unmounted rubber stamps are from Inque Boutique - they come with a self cling adhesive to use with acrylic blocks and then you use their stamping mat underneath your cardstock when stamping. They are really inexpensive - you can get 15-20 stamps and more in one set for about $12. They are really high quality with an awesome selection. I've seen them at Archiver's and even Meijer's - so check your LSS or look at the website online. They have a complete list of online retailers.
I prefer the actual rubber stamps because I have only dye inks and the clear ones seem to need a chalk ink or another type.
Hope this helps!
Oh ok, thanks so much. So with the clear ones you can't use a regular ink pad?
I am so new to this. Thanks
Clear stamps don't seem to stamp very well with dye ink. I use Brilliance ink for my clear stamps; it is a pigment ink. Other people swear by the new ink Momento.
I just found an awesome company that sells both unmounted cling rubber stamps (without the wood) and clear stamps. Depending on what you like they have some awesome images. Here's the link:
I guess the confusion goes away once you know what you want? haha!

Thank you hun, I am off to check them out, I have looked at all the links and wondering which ones I want. So many, I see why this is such an addictive craft.

Here are my current favorites. Most have both mounted and unmounteds, with unmounted about half the price of thier mounteds. Eureka and Biblical Impressions both have their unmounteds on sale this month for an additional half off.
My favorite places to order are
Cornish Heritage Farms
Gina K
I brake for stamps
and my new favorite is Unity Stamp company. I have had great service from all and the quality and prices can't be beat either!
I use the clear stamps and I have used all types of ink and cleaner archival and dye and chalk and have had no problems with any type of ink;
a lot of rubber companies tell you that so you buy from them I think LOL
I just tried Versafine with a clear stamp last night... it beaded up horribly! :( For what I was doing, it's no big - but it's a good thing I found out now!
I guess it's all just personal experience. Generally I've found more yummy designs in clear, but rubber takes ink better.
Oooo, yes, Outlines! Dee Lish! Check out their new jewelled stamps line!

You can take a bit of fine sandpaper and gently go over the clear stamps. It wont hurt them and it will take the stickyness or whatever off and they will take ink fabulous. Also the solid ones are the ones that are the most troublesome. The others are not so bad.
Art Declassified also sells red rubber, cling mounted (to EZ-Mount from Sunday International) stamps. Their stamps are more on the artsy side, but they are beautiful. The photo stamps really do stamp like photos when stamped on glossy cardstock.

I've actually done that! Sadly, it didn't work... just freaked me out a bunch!:-D

Purple Onion Designs has unmounted red rubber that I really like and once or twice a year they do a 50% off sale on the unmounted which makes it really inexpensive. Have fun!
I have never had to condition (rub with eraser or sand paper) ANY of these brands:
My favorite things
Inkadinkado
Stampavie
Penny Black
Basic Grey
Hero Arts
Crafty Secrets
Just a suggestion since I know that some more inexpensive brands like Autumn Leaves I have never been able to get a good image from no matter what I did.

Isn't that crazy?? The ones that I had the most trouble with were the birds from Inkadinkado! Autumn Leaves always seems fine (not great, mind you).
Anyhow, it did help a little to coat with Versamark first, then dye ink. Still had to over-stamp a few times, but it was better than nothing!
