Lights for glass blocks - help?

The only lights I have found that will fit in the glass blocks that I want to make for Christmas gifts are those with green wires. i am really frustrated as I know the wires will show through and I was hoping for a subtle light. Does anyone know where I can get lights with white wires?

Any place with white trees will have them. Try a speciality Christmas store or perhaps Lowes. Also, most Icicle lights have white cords. After Halloween, when stores push the Christmas stuff a little harder--they should be easier to find.

I'm curious what are you going to do with the glass blocks?? Any stamping involved? Pictures??? Thanks!

I plan to try stamping and then etching the glass blocks. Thanks for your all your help. The only thing with using regular Christmas lights is that you have to make a really large hole to get the lights to fit inside. I have found "rice lights". I think they use them for making those little villages. They are really small and perfect for what I need but.. they are only in green. Oh well!! I'll keep looking and maybe I'll have to change the size of the hole!

My neighbor gave me two of these as a gift a couple of years ago.... they are beautiful underneath the Christmas tree!

If there is an IKEA near you they may have some, they have the past several years around xmas time. They may even have them through their website. Good luck!

Can you just paint the green wires white?

I get all of my lights that I display with at work through a company called modern display. If you do a search I'm sure you will find them. One of the things that I love about this place is that you can order the length and color of the cord that you want with the bulb type that you prefer. We just go to the store in SLC, Utah because they are close, and they make them while we wait. Not sure if they do the rice lights by the length but it is worth a shot!
