Default Mounting mini-alphabet question

I'm getting ready to mount the Rough Edges Alphabet (a mini alphabet). The instructions say to cut square around the letter. Do they work well this way? I'm concerned that ink will get on the surrounding rubber and leave marks. On the other hand if I trim them too close will they come off the block? Has anyone done these before.

I'm not sure I'd get this set for myself. It's a replacement for my mom. My 2-yr old unmounted her non-SU set, including labels, while my father was babysitting. My dad hasn't learned that a quiet 2-yr old is always getting into something they shouldn't be.

Thanks for your help.

Hi there, I just mounted my rough edges alphabet a little while ago. I was also worried about the same thing - whether the ink would get on the surrounding rubber & leave marks. But, I didn't want to risk cutting them too close and have the remaining rubber be "wobbly".

So I just followed their directions & cut square around the letter. So far, so good - cross my fingers! When I've used it, it hasn't given me too much trouble yet. I make sure I delicately ink it, though, to try to avoid getting ink on the edges in the first place. I really like this set, though! So glad it's not retiring!

Sorry to hear about your 2 year old getting into trouble! I have a 3 year DD & a 1 year DS, so I know what it's like to have young children around!

I have a different mini alpha and was worried, too. But for no reason. It works great when cut as instructed.
