Question Leaves awash

Can anyone tell me what color ink cartridge to get to use with this wheel? I am concerned about the shading that is on the wheel looking too dark. ( I plan on using chalks or watercolors to color in the images ).
Thanks.

I have just used black and it is easy to add your colors to it. I betcha the brown would be pretty too! Have fun!

I have a black cartridge, but prefer to just roll it on the inkpad. We used this at a class last nite and it is a great wheel to have. I wouldn't worry about getting a cartridge unless you are going to make giftwrap or something. The wheel is designed to make one pass across a 5 1/2" card face. HTH!

I just sold one to my own mother, and recommended she try the carmel cartridge with it. It will work with both fall and summer colors.

I love Close to Cocoa w/ this wheel. I also Versamarked an empty cartridge and embossed in gold, then watercolored w/ the classic pads...very pretty! I love leaves, so this is fast becoming a favorite!

I have that wheel with the carmel cartridge. I hate to have to buy the cartridge but I've gotten alot of use out of it. I agree it can make the leaves go Spring or Fall. It's a great wheel

Thanks for all the replys. I will probably get the carmel cartridge. I like the idea of making it useful for both spring and fall. I will also try inking the wheel from my classic close to cocoa or black ink pads. Thanks for your help!

And the second time by me!

I also agree that this is gorgeous with the creamy caramel cartridge! I have had so much fun with this.

I also love the idea of embossing and then watercoloring...totally cool!

I have this wheel and have really enjoyed using it. I have used the basic brown pad because it is waterproof like the black so I could water color with out running. I think the creamy carmel would be lovely as well, and I love the idea of embossing... copper is my favorite.

Here is a link to a card I made with this wheel.

http://gallery.splitcoaststampers.co...0&ppuser=51017

I used a cartridge that was inked up randomly with Always artichoke, Really rust and More mustard. These colors look awesome together, but as you can see, would definitely stand on their own too. Even the mustard. What about rolling it over an autumnish spectrum pad? I also agree with the Creamy Caramel opinions!!!

Default I just ordered this wheel

I just ordered this wheel and will get it at the end of this month. I just love the image and wanted to water color it. I got the black and a blank cart and versamark refill. I thought the image would look really good embossed with gold and then water colored in.

Hey I never knew you could use the wheels on regular ink pads. If I would have known that I probably would have purchased something else instead of the carts oh well. Thanks for pointing that out.

I just got mine the other day and did an empty 3 color on mine. Used More Mustard, summer sun and bravo burgandy. Looks AWESOME for fall. I will have to try the embossing! I'm a little scared to gum up a cartridge with versamark, but can always roll it right?

BTW, maybe we're twins separated at birth! *GRIN*

I use versamark alot with my wheel and I use the pad. The things we like about versamark for embossing (it stays moist longer) works well for all wheels on card size paper. But a cartridge is better for longer pages like scrapbooking, etc. The other thing I like to do with my wheels if I'm gumming them up with versamark is to do extra images and emboss or pearlex then save them for later. That way I only have to clean the wheels once, but I've had more productive time. I also like to wash my wheels used with versamark at the sink with a little soap and warm water. It's easier to make sure they're really clean.
(if you only have ink pad spots you can ink the smaller wheels with those too.) The other day when I was wheeling I used ink spots to "color" selectively on a flower and leaf wheel so the flowers were different colors. It turned out really nice.
