Know anything about this?

I picked up this "set" at a yardsale. It all came in a bag with the only potential identifying info on it was "HSN-MAY 18-29". For all I know, this bag may have belonged to something else. It appears to make a box with the white scored cardstock (upper right). There is also what appears to be a card that you fold at the scored line (bottom of pic). The images on the upper left of the pic have score lines down the length of each side, and the center heart (on the top one) pops out along with the pop-out images inside the heart.

Are any of you familiar with this set and how it is supposed to come together? Does the last part attach in any way to the box? Does the card slip in between the heart aperture and the box? Any pictures of a final product or any info you might have would be gratefully appreciated.

Any help would be appreciated.

HSN….Home Shopping Network? They carry Anna Griffin products…..could that be something from her line?

Paper Junky 07-10-2021 10:28 AM

I did think HSN was Home Shopping Network, and I did check there but could not pull up anything like what I have.

It does look like it could possibly be an Anna Griffin product, but again, was unable to locate it.

Well if that is a date I might think it is May 29th 2018 which may be why you cant find it. (European date formatting)

The box looks to me to be a single piece construction and I would venture to guess for the cards to go into as a gift set?

kazeka 07-10-2021 03:00 PM

Looks like the image can't be uploaded anymore. When I saw it the other day though, it looks like the box folds up to make a gift box for the cards, and maybe the elements that pop out of the papers on the top left are embellishments for the gift box. Do the scored lines on those papers match up to the fold lines for the box? Can they be used to cover the box for decoration?

I don't know why the image can't be viewed anymore. Am I the only one who can't see it anymore? Wanted to take a closer look.

I can see the image in the first post of this thread if that is what you are meaning?

to me it looks like a stack of diecut boxes that you would use the papers to decorate it, and it does look like an Anna griffin thing. ( my mama & mil have tons of her line) but, its not something I know a lot about, I mainly buy embossing folders from her.

Sheesh, why can't I see the image when I click on it anymore? I was able to click on it and see in more detail before, but now I get a message saying Image cannot be opened or something.

Wondering if it's Crafter's Companion, which has a similar look?
Karen

Paper Junky 07-10-2021 04:55 PM

There are 24 of each component. The cards when folded would fit inside the folded box, but with 24 cards and 24 boxes, it would seem one card for each box as opposed to, say, 5 cards per box.

The aperture component does not fit "cleanly" (?) on the top of the box but, instead, would actually bow out above the box. Does that last part make sense? It is the part with the aperture with the punch-outs that doesn't make sense to me. I do agree, however, that the punch-outs are probably to decorate the card or the box.

kazeka 07-10-2021 05:01 PM

Is the paper heavyweight with a slightly glossy finish, or matte? Are they decorated with foil detail? If so, they might even be Hunkydory or Crafter's Companion. I would just do my own thing with the kit elements and decorate the box any way you wish. Any extra card papers etc. can be used as regular stash. I've gotten card kits given to me by a friend who gets them free in magazines, and I usually don't follow the instructions. Some of them are fancy folds and/or too fussy for my taste...so I just treat it as normal stash.
Still, I would be wondering about it as well. I mean, look at me...and I don't even own the kit, haha!

The "paper" is a bit heavyweight (more like a cardstock) and does have a very slightly glossy finish and gold foil detail. The box templates are even a bit more heavyweight than the "paper."

kazeka 07-10-2021 10:44 PM

Wow, for some reason, I can see the image again when I click on it. Must have been a temporary glitch. Anyway, now that I see it up close, it looks like the pieces in the upper left with score lines on them may be folios to hold the cards below?. Or, I I thought the paper with the heart aperture might be a sleeve that slides over the folded box, but not sure if the fold lines are the same measurement. I also wondered if the cards with fold lines on each side might be shadow box cards? It's the score lines that are the most confusing to me.
Sorry, but I'm of no help at all! Let us know if you ever figure it out, so I can sleep again :lolo:

It looks like the pieces are intended to be added on top of the base card to be used as dimensional pieces. We used to call it paper tole. If you use foam squares/tape, the layers make the image "pop" off the card. The boxes would be used as envelopes to accommodate the dimension of the cards. At least, this is what I can gather from the photo. HTH.

I get the same message, here and on some other threads too. Not sure why, because usually I can click on the thumbnails people share. Not today for some reason???

Anna Griffin

Have you tried Anna Griffin’s website and blog? Perhaps she has instructions for a similar design.

Anna Griffin May 2018 HSN

Here’s a link to Anna’s block announcing the HSN May 2018 showing of her products.

Maybe this will help?

I'm unable to view the image.  I'm thinking Euro formatting on the date as well, so it could be long-retired.

sboeglin 07-13-2021 12:43 PM

Maybe Crafters Companion

Crafters Companion also sells on HSN and is a British company.

Paper Junky 07-14-2021 06:32 PM

Thank you all so much for your help with this.  I still haven't found any information yet, either under Anna Griffin or Crafter's Companion or Hunky Dory, for that matter.

Maybe I'll just make them up as gift boxes with the heart aperture piece (with attached paper tole pieces) attached on top and then be able to slide the card in underneath the aperture piece.

So far that is all I can envision with this set.  I'll post a pic tomorrow to show what I mean.

Again, thank you all so much.

HSN is an online shopping site, and I would guess the date is the time it would be for sale.  Just guessing someone picked it up and the box fell apart and  dispensed the contests, a craft project of some sort. HSN sells alot of crafty stuff.

They have a mini die-cutting machine they are selling  cheap right now, until midnight.

Here is video on making envelopes for 3D cards.  The patterns look like the ones in your picture.

Sorry, I can't post URLs

I can't see the image either, so you aren't alone there

CoffeeFanGirl 07-29-2021 06:34 AM

I can enlarge the image but can't find the blog, it's just a dummy with / for advertising.

Diane17 07-29-2021 07:41 AM

Sorry

I tried going back to the image I saw, but I am unable to find it again.

Browser, security, .... it is so so different with soft- and hardware.
Sometime things like that just happens and I'm glad, we can help eachother.

purpleflowers 08-02-2021 07:55 PM

That is not Anna Griffin. However, I'm not sure who/what company it is. Hunkydory seems like a reasonable suggestion, or maybe Hot Off The Press?

Paper Junky 08-02-2021 08:00 PM

I've tried Hunkydory. Have not tried Hot Off the Press but can look tomorrow.

Thank you for your input.

Sorry for the delays in getting back to people. I had some major surgery 9 days ago. During the surgery, they noticed one of my kidneys was not draining and found a 3 cm kidney stone for which I'll be having surgery on Monday 'cuz it ain't goin' nowhere on its own!

Anyway, so, here is the end result of what I think these parts are supposed to look like.

In the front, you have the card layered with the punched out pieces that slips out from behind the curved window front of the box. The second pic just shows the back of the box with the card slightly slipped out.

I did try looking at Hot Off the Press products for this, but didn't see anything like it.

Thank you all for your hints, tips and suggestions. If anyone does actually find this somewhere on line, please let me know where and/or send me a link.

CoffeeFanGirl 08-07-2021 10:43 PM

Hi Brenda, I hope you get well soon.
If I may, I would love to send you a little card, that doesen't help, but snailmail always cheers me a little up, so it does perhaps the same for you?
Just let me know :)
