The pre-order period for demos is September 1-30. Then the regular ordering period is October 1-January 18. Demos should be getting their mailed copy in a couple of weeks (mailed August 15)

Mod question?
Am I on the demo. side? How can all this chatter be about signing up? Did I miss something?

I'm not a mod, but the Convention chatter threads are on the general side. HTH.

Not a thing! Congratulations!
One thing I like about SU's policy is that if you decide to drop for any reason, you don't have to pay them any money or give the kit back. There are some direct sales companies where you actually have to do that.

depending on when you are planning to place a big order.... you MIGHT want to wait about 10 days..... now if you know you will order big and soon, or if you are going to be doing this as a business and will have workshops coming in... forget what I say next...
but -- remember that you get an extra 10% off your first "worshop" order (any order at $150 or higher) in the first 45 days of your demoship .. and starting October 1st every $350 or higher order will earn a free set from the sampler catalog... would be cool to combine those two...
just thinking...

The only problem with waiting until October to place a big order is that in the meantime we will have the mini catalog preview and all of the stamp sets in the mini will be 20% off for demonstrators during the preview period, whch wil end September 30. And the "Never Before Seen" promotion on 10 brand new stamp sets from the fall/winter IBC ends on September 30th as well. So waiting for one free stamp set in October could cost you a lot of discounts offered in the meantime.

VERY true -- IF those other orders are over $150... which is VERY likely for many demos.... just pointing it out for those who will pay for the starter kit and then have to wait a bit to spend big again... for MOST demos, what you say makes more sense...

Try to wait...
I agree...IF you can wait it would be better for you to sign up closer to the end of August.
I'm not saying wait until October---but just a few more days---not only can you take advantage of the special the first of October (it would be within your 45 day ordering period & the first order would qualify for the 30% discount) but you will also get a package of holiday minis in your starter kit (no, they aren't that expensive, but when you are starting out---every little bit helps) AND you won't miss out on the demo pre-order discount in Sept. on holiday mini.

Thanks for the additional info. I don't plan on placing any $350 orders (I'm doing this as a hobby for myself), so it won't really benefit me to wait. I'll be all set to go on Monday!

Yes.
All new demos get 30% off their first workshop order totaling $150 or more before taxes & shipping--order must be placed within 45 days of their start date.

Yes, you can swap out the ink and CS for different colors, and the stamp sets for ones at the same price or lower.

Do a Friend a Favor -- Sign up under a current demo!
Quote: Originally Posted by karcher70 I've decided to sign up on Monday. For $99, what do I have to lose? |
Hi,
I am so happy for you -- I wanted to remind you that if you have a friend who is a demo (or a demo you admire) you can sign up under them and give them a boost in their business.
It is such a kind thing to do, and it doesn't cost you anything!
Hope you will consider helping someone who could use that downline! (Even if you are doing it only as a hobby demo!)
Julie

I'll be signing up under my current demo. She's great. I'm glad to know that she'll get credit for me signing...I wasn't sure how that worked with the $99 kits.

Is this on the main SU website or only on the demonstrator section? I was trying to find it so I could look at all the options but I haven't been able to locate it. Thanks.

Oh, that stinks, I'm sorry.
Maybe you should sign up with the $99 special now anyway, then build up your customer base, and if you do end up getting laid off you'll have some money coming in! (I try to look for a silver lining!)

Sorry to hear about the lay offs MaryP1197. I agree with GreenDragonLady about starting with the $99 kit and building business up. Think about it.
