I would toss it. No way would I make a card with ribbon that even remotely smelled like pee and gave it to someone. Eww!
Agreed with the UTI as well.
Also don't give up if you find she does this again... there is something going on. Either litter box not cleaned as often as she likes or change in litter or stress or UTI. If it really doesn't go away keep getting vet checks for liver failure. That's what happened with my late cat. Behavioral problems if that's what it is, can be a pain but I'd never give up a beloved pet for it. It'd just be something to work through.
My cat is like someone elses who posted... she will pee on clean clothes if they are on the floor or even on a basket on the floor. She peed all in my suitcase when I didn't unpack it in a timely manner. She's peed on my bed once before. It took weeks getting that smell out but I did. She's just an ornery little cuss but I love her. It's usually my fault for not cleaning the cat box fast enough.
I got some from my vet when I had 2 cats that were occasionally not making it to the litter box in time. They were both elderly, and one was diabetic and the other had kidney failure. It worked really well and smelled better than Nature's Miracle IMHO.
And, as an ex-veterinary technician, I also recommend getting your kitty checked out asap. There are a lot of medical conditions that can cause her to not use the litter box. Going other places is usually a cry for help.
I don't have any advice for you but I just wanted to say I'm sorry about all your ribbon, and I hope your kitty will be ok. I have two dogs, and they never have access to my crafting space. I don't have cats but I would imagine that it is a lot tougher to keep an eye on them. I have a Great Dane and as loud as she is I always know where she is.
My only advice is to take the kitty to the vet and toss the ribbon. Our cat was put down at only 5 because of kidney failure. I wish I'd realized sooner how sick she was.....I don't think it would have saved her, but I still feel bad that I didn't have her checked (she wasn't peeing outside the box, but her fur was getting all matted, and that wasn't like her).
Put a layer of BBQ charcoal briquettes in a plastic storage box and cover with a single sheet of newspaper. Then put in your ribbons, cover with another single sheet of newspaper and more briquettes. Seal and set aside for a week or so - voila! No smell! It even took the smell of two (yep, 2) rotten turkeys out of my freezer when the electricity went out one summer while I was on vacation!
I walked through the door of my house and thought something/someone had died in there! And that was with the freezer still being shut and in the basement of the house. Two "frozen" turkeys, ten days, 95+ temperatures. Let me tell you, I thought my freezer was a gonner for sure! I turned it on high to refreeze the little buggers, then carried them out and tossed them in the trash. Amazingly, the charcoal sucked every single bit of the odor out of the freezer.
I agree with some of the previous posters.....Once you have cat pee on something its there permanently. I'd toss it all
Totally agree...I sure wouldn't want to send a card with ribbon on it that the cat peed on to anyone nor would I appreicate recieving one. EWWWWW PU!! Take kitty to vet.

K, I guess I'm tossing the ribbon - tough decision because most of it was entire spools of SU ribbon - I just finished ordering it all - WAY too cumbersome to try wash and iron it all. plus, I'm pregnant and can't stand strong smells like cat urine. She used to only pee in my gym bag, so we thought she was reacting to the smell of sweat, but I guess it is slowly progressing and I will call the vet tomorrow to schedule an appointment.
thanks for all the suggestions though - I will use them to try to get the smell out of my carpet as some ended up there as well.
