Kids' workshop
 

I am considering having a kid's workshop for my Mom's group, but am a new demo, and haven't even had my first workshop yet. What stamps, inks, accessories has anyone used for a kid's workshop. Any tips to avert a disaster? TIA.

I would definitely recommend getting the kids pads because they are washable. Both you, your table and the mom's doing the laundry will appreciate that.

Also, kids have a hard time remembering to wash off stamps. So now I just have 1 color with each stamp so that it doesn't require any washing until you are done.

I just ordered the kid markers, but I won't get them until next week so I will have to let you know on that.

not that I have a lot of experience with kids at workshops (luckily), but when stamping with my kids I find that children can be kinda hard on your stuff, so whatever you let them use make sure it's simple as to minimize the chance of things getting destroyed. in fact my DD has her own stamps and ink pads so I don't have to worry about mine, and she can stamp her heart out.

BTW what ages would these kids be (my DD is almost 5)?? I did once have a couple 11 yr old girls attend a workshop, and even they were more rough with my stuff than I thought they would be. it really kinda ticked me off, because if I'd known they'd have been there I would've changed my make and take to something easier for VERY new stampers to make. but stamping with kids can be fun, I don't want to discourage you, just know that kids are hard on supplies, so procede with caution, and age in mind.

Thanks for the tips. The kids would be about 2-5 yrs old. I know that is kinda young, and I am picky about my 'stuff', so would probably have to get stamps ans pads just for kids to use. That wouldn't be so bad, because I have 2 kids myself, but they're too young to be on their own with ink!!!

I have a 5 year old DD and an eight year old DS. I just had three girls (thought there were going to be two) ages 6, 9 and 10. I didn't know the 6 year old was going to stamp and while my back was turned she started stamping. They were using my Mini Messages and Loveing Hearts. The 6 year old was very hard on my Mini Messages. AND she used it in black. She got it all over my blocks.

I am very particular about my stuff as well. But I learned a long time ago that it doesn't matter what age, they all will mess your stuff up. As I was cleaning them I just had to keep telling myself that it does not affect the quality of the image if it has ink on the wook. Luckily, I made a big enough mention about cleaning it before you use another color that no one made that mistake. The mom was here for the stamping part and was alot of help.

I have Crayon Kids, Kids at Play (I consider that my daughters... but if I ask real nice she'll let me use it), Pocket Fun, Girlfriends, Toy Box and Sporting Goods. The older goods like the flower and butterfly ones too.

Have fun. Way to get them started young. That can prolong the life of your business. :wink:
