Default Tile Help - PLEASE!!!

Okay, I desperately need your help. Christmas is rapidly approaching, and I really want to make some coordinating tile sets for my grandmother, mother-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law. I was thinking maybe a trivet, 4 coasters and a couple of magnets each. I don't know what kind of tiles to buy. I've seen people mention tumbled tiles in other posts, but when I went to Home Depot, I didn't really find much. The Lowe's website wasn't very helpful either. Could anyone tell me the specific brand that they use so I have something specific to ask about when I go to Lowes (hopefully this evening)?

Also, has anyone tried stamping on slate? If so, where do you get the slate. Lots of people paint on them, so I was thinking that I could maybe paint the slate a cream color and stamp on that. Do you think that would work, and what kind of paint would work best?

Thanks in advance for you help! I'm a novice crafter, so I need lots of it

I have seen stamping on different tiles. The tumbled ones are travertine. At least that's what was used at my demo's club. I have also stamped on ceramic tile that looks like travertine. We just used the StazOn on those with no sealing.
As far as painting the slate, I wouldn't use that for a hot plate, because I would think the paint would stick to the hot surface...no? I actually had a question about that for the sealed trivets.
And lastly, see if you have any tile stores near you...that's where I have been told you may be able to buy them for less. I think my demo bought them for .48 each.
Good Luck & have fun!
