Default Keywords missing.... I am appalled...

I am appalled, thunderstruck, dismayed, stunned and dumbfounded!!!! Just went searching for a particular set in the gallery and found that there are a *lot* of cards with no keywords!!!! None!! Nada!! I will not disclose the names of the culprits. You know who you are and so do I, but your secret is safe with me..... at least for awhile.
What's a keyword??? It's a word you can click and the search engine finds every photo with that same keyword. It's really, really helpful.
Please, when you upload a card, be sure to put the names of all the stamp sets used into the keyword section. This is especially important when.....
...you use more than one set
...you upload to a special gallery (like ATCs or techniques).

All of us who browse the galleries will thank you.... well, not personally, but you know what I mean.

I hear you! It's a real shame and such a waste that so many cards are lost forever to gallery searches because none of the information is filled out.

May I add a side note to this? My pet peeve in the gallery is when someone not only doesn't use keywords for stamp sets but doesn't say ANYTHING about the card -- no inks, embellishments, techniques, nothing!

This happens if you upload to an "album" instead. The prompts never come up. (I learned this, sadly, when I first used an album upload. <grin>) So if uploading to an album, it's especially important to use the keywords and use your comments section to list your inks, papers, and accessories.

Anyway, just wanted to point out that sometimes it's an inadvertant thing. I do hate it when I love a card and there's no information!

Oh, no! Not offended. I just felt like an idiot when it happened to me, so I like to let people know about it.

Thanks Amy, I've only uploaded 4 so far, but I thought something was missing. I knew others had more info. I also wasn't sure what to put in keywords. Can I amend the album? Thanks

Do I need to list the main stamp set? I mean, if I am uploading into the Loads of Love gallery, do I need to list that stamp set too? I've always only put keywords in that weren't mentioned elsewhere.

Gack! I never thought about putting the other stamp sets in the keywords - I usually only put techniques there (if I even put ANYTHING)...I am so guilty of this. And since I also *hate* viewing a card with NO info, I will be sure to amend my own wicked ways.

I remember having one upload whereby the stamps, papers, inks, bit didn't come up (and I wasn't loading it to an album), so I just listed them in the comments section...

I just went to look at my albums. Guess that the reason my cards have their info is that I uploaded first and moved the photos to an album later.
Since my only albums are for VSN and I'm always in a big hurry I have never uploaded directly into an album.

I had uploaded to webshots and there you have to have the album first, so I did it here too. I just went to my gallery to try to amend, can't figure that out

In my case, when I make a card, I just make a card with what I have available to use. I am not using SU products because I have only recently (for about a year) been a SU customer. I sold another line of stamps for many years and all of my ink pads, reinkers, card stock, etc. I don't feel is familar to the majority of the people on this website. Maybe my impression is wrong, but I get a very strong feeling that this is an SU website. When I post colors of ink, paper, and etc., I don't feel like it means much to others here. As far as listing the embellishments, I don't know.... I guess I have always felt that when you see a brad, a button, a piece of ribbon, a charm, you see it...why do you have to be told that it is there? Techniques...I am not a real technical stamper. I am not familiar with alot of the techniques but when I see something that I would like to try, I know I can find a tutorial on it. I don't list techniques simply because most of the time I am simply just stamping. If I were one of the very very talented stampers on this website whose cards are anticipated, reviewed, and held to the highest regard, or an SU demo that uses this sight possibly as a teaching tool to their downline, then maybe then I would feel more obligated to post all of the details, colors or etcetera. I am fairly new to this sight (since April) and I guess I didn't realize it was so offensive not to post the details. Whenever anyone has sent me a pm to ask about something on one of my cards, I have responded quickly and have been as helpful as I can truly be.

Hang on, isn't there a box that says Stamps? I always type in all the stamps in that box. I don't use the keywords field because it is duplication... is that wrong?

I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression that searches look at all fields unless you tell it to look only at the titles and/or descriptions, and thought that it was not necessary to duplicate that info in the keywords section. I just use that area for FAQ types that people are ALWAYS asking about like "masculine", "baby announcements", "wedding", etc.

*hangs head in shame* I always fill out the info, but I never knew what I was supposed to put in the keyword section, so I leave it blank.

That is what we were told not that long ago, so I stopped putting the stamp sets in the keywords.

I thought that I read before that the only real difference between putting the name of the stamp set in the "keyword" Section and in the "Stamp" section was that in the Keyword section, it also serves as a link... so you can click on the words in the Key word section and it will do a search of that word. You can't click on the stamps listed in just the stamp section... I could be wrong though!

The names of stamp makers are really nice to have in the "Stamp" list.

Mostly it is, but lots of other brands are used by Splitcoast Stampers.

Sometimes "Accessories" are special tools rather than embellishments. For instance, it helps me to know if you are using a special punch or just cutting with a scissors.

Aside from those all those other descriptions, the "Keyword" is not just a listing. Your keywords become clickable links. So if I want to see a bunch of cards with lighthouses, I can click on the keyword "lighthouse" under my own card and the search engine brings up all the other lighthouse pics in the entire gallery -- the ones that have it in the keyword.

But if you also used the "Weathered" background stamp along with "Loads of Love", you cannot put it into both galleries.

I don't put anything in the keywords unless it's part of a challenge.

Can I mention that I really dislike when someone puts nothing there but instead directs me to their blog? I don't mind a description and a link for their blog too, but if I HAVE to go to their blog - well, I think that's just kinda rude to SCS. If you post it here, give us the info.

It's just because the keywords are *clickable* and the stamps list is not. Keywords make it so easy to click on the name of the stamp (or some other word) instead of going back to the gallery index or using the advance search.

When I use three sets, I list them all in the stamp sets used. I think if you do a search, it'll find them.

I'm really not going to try to worry about things like if someone is looking for "lighthouses" only because that could be a daunting task! I can see me agonizing over what else it could be. And it wouldn't help unless a LOT of people did it.

I figure most people are going to seach by stamp set, so I make sure I get them all in.

Garnet I'm sorry you are appalled! I have never regarded the "keyword" section as the place where I will list my stamp sets. I use the "stamps" section for that like many of us have stated. If anything I use that area if the card or project features something special (ie, quick cards, lunch cans, OSW, etc) If I am uploading a series of cards where it repeats the info, I have recently begun to list all the "creative info" in the comments section, then place the card into the gallery of the primary set I had used. I see your point in making it "easier" when you are searching, but in all honesty, I just thought everyone was like me and looked (or at least tried to ) at everything, everyday. Then if I like something specific, I do a search in that gallery or plug in some words and go from there.

Okay, you aren't really a ninny, because *I* had to PM her and ask, cos *I* felt like a ninny. LOL

Now I don't feel so bad!

Psst . . . you're not supposed to tell the second part. And it has occurred to me that I may just be the only ninny who uses that particular acronym these days.

I'm a dinosaur (I'd rather be a din-o-sour -- they're yummers!). I was larfing and girning on a VM message board in university long before SCS was a twinkle in Daven's eye (they have eyedrops for that now, I think). No mouse -- it was all in the keystrokes! Appending/posting the string "PF2" was a major insult as that was the function key you hit when you wanted to leave a discussion/thread and block it from the refresh list. Crazy times!

I find using keywords is especially critical when using stamps that are not SU.
I always try to remember to list the brand in keywords. Sadly, there are some collections that contain only my cards when I know there are tons of people out there using some of the same companies that I often use.

I put in as much information as possible and really appreciate those who also do so. It is a learning process for me to read about. that is why I love blogs where the authors describe how they made their cards!!
