Default KAI vs SU scissors

hi all,

I am about to trim my very first SU stamp set....

Is ths SU scissors exactly the same as the KAI ones? I am reading old posts here and it seems like it?

If it is, which KAI 'model' is the one to get? On their website there are so many!

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they're the same. I looked on their website, and they seemed kinda expensive?? I'd check out franticstamper.com -- I know she sells them at a price that's reasonable for Canadians, but I don't know what SU sells them for in the US.

I just got the KAI Rubber Stamp Scissors N5626 from the www.kaiscissors.com website and compared them to my friend's SU scissors. They are IDENTICAL! It's free shipping from the KAI website too! I've been cutting my stamps for 3+ years now with just regular scissors and used my new KAI for one stamp set last night. What a difference!!! They are great!

I just ordered mine from KAI. Do you remember how long it took to get them? I am just a little anxious as I have a few stamp sets coming...

Do the Kai scissors say "made in Japan?" My older Kai's do. My SU scissors say "made in the US." When I compare them, the point seems more pointy on the Kai's and the SU ones are slightly rounded at the point.

At one time, I think SU scissors were manufactured by KAI. I am not sure if they still are....the newer SU ones seem different. I've 4 pair of scissors 2 SU and 2 KAI and have them sharpened on a regular basis. My preference is for the KAI however....they seem so much sharper!!

I agree that SU! used to sell KAI craft and rubber scissors, but now they are just look alikes. The original KAI were a bit better, but the ones SU! sells still foot the bill.

we've found the 6 inch Rubber Stamping Shears (N5626) to be the best of the best. They do have a slightly rounded tip which is a must unless you want to wear a thimble

one trick we found was when the scissors appear to be getting dull, using something like Citra-Solv (Walmart hardware department) gets the adhesive residue out of the scissor joint and makes for a much easier time on the hands.

we have 4 pair and haven't had to have any of them sharpened yet. Great quality!

I have the Kai as well and they are great scissors! I'm sorry I don't have the product number, but I ordered them online from a stamping site.

In addition to Citra-Solv, you can also use Goo Gone, which is a similar product (that has many uses!) and it's available at many places.

The KAI scissors used to be used to cut/trim bonzai trees. They are awesome. I bought mine used off a lady and she had them sharpened right before she sold them to me. I love them. They are also what I prefer to use to cut my homemade chipboard.

I've read some posts by some folks who've used both KAI and SU and found the SU worked much better than KAI, but there are also others who find the converse to be true. That's why I ordered R&C scissors from VLVS instead.

I got the KAI scissors as a half-price item from TAC and could not live without them. KAI is definetly a "name" in the scissor industry (is there a scissor industry to be a name in?)- not just for rubber, but sewing as well too. You hear about them a lot when these things are discussed. You cannot go wrong if you get KAI. I would call SU and ask who makes there's. SU doesn't sell low quality stuff, so even if they aren't KAI, they are going to be good scissors.
