whisper white cardstock

Is Whisper White cardstock SU's equivalent of ultrasmooth white? I'm looking for some ultrasmooth cardstock. Thanks!

Yes, Whisper White is ultrasmooth. Up until last year, the name in the catalog was Ultrasmooth White.

I just started using the georgia pacific cardstock from walmart. I think its great! And it's only like $4.95 for 150 sheets! I love SU's also, but with the huge price difference, I think I'm just going to start using the GP from now on.

GP may be *cheaper* but there is a huge difference in stampability and texture. My opinion, and it is mine, so no flames, please, is that if I am going all out to make a quality card with SU!'s wonderful cardstock, I am not going to scrimp and save a few pennies on the most important layer. That's me, though.

I just bought some of the Georgia Pacific paper, and I have to agree with Valerie....it's okay for using as a card base, but it doesn't take the ink as nicely as SU!s. I found that it bled and broke down when I tried stamping an image more than once in the same spot to intensify the color. It also broke down and 'pilled' when I tried to watercolor on it. I've had the same experiences as Happy Heart. Sometimes what you stamp on the inside of the card ends up bleeding through the back and what you might stamp on the back bleeds through to the inside...depending on the color. I use it now only as a middle or back layering piece.....I don't think I'll buy it again either.

Didn't someone say once...."You get what you pay for?"!! That's been my experience anyway.

I was under the impression that Whisper White is just the new name for Ultrasmooth White. I don't believe they changed anything about the cardstock except the name.

The cheaper Georgia Pacific cardstock (from WalMart or Sam's Club) is OK until you try to use a blender pen, or any kind of watercolor. If I'm doing anything that involves blending, coloring, water, or any other manipulating, I use only SU! The cheaper cardstock just can't take it and pills up and/or breaks down.
