I've used the ones out of the SU catalog...they hold about 4 standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 cards w/envelopes. I've never use a pattern for a stationery box, but I do plan on tracing the SU ones so I can use any color paper.
I usually use the medium gable boxes and put 8-10 cards w/matching envelopes and decorate the box. Then I can give "refills" in cello bags for different holidays/occasions. Hope this helps.

I made mine with the die cuts. I was able to fit in 6 cards with envelopes, but they didn't have a lot of embellishments. I haven't tried making them myself, but I like the idea of tracing them on different colored paper. One nice thing about the die cut boxes is you get a lot of tags - they are all around the sides. HTH
