Default Stationary Boxes for gifts

Hi y'all! I would like to make stationary boxes for my neices for Christmas. I have a couple of questions.

1. Would you all recommend the diecut stationary boxes from SU, or make the one in the July Stampin' Success?

2. If the diecut boxes, do you know what size they are assembled? And, how many sheets of paper they hold?

3. If the one from the SS, does anyone have detailed directions on how to make it? I need someone to walk me through it.

TIA!!

I've used the ones out of the SU catalog...they hold about 4 standard 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 cards w/envelopes. I've never use a pattern for a stationery box, but I do plan on tracing the SU ones so I can use any color paper.

I usually use the medium gable boxes and put 8-10 cards w/matching envelopes and decorate the box. Then I can give "refills" in cello bags for different holidays/occasions. Hope this helps.

I made mine with the die cuts. I was able to fit in 6 cards with envelopes, but they didn't have a lot of embellishments. I haven't tried making them myself, but I like the idea of tracing them on different colored paper. One nice thing about the die cut boxes is you get a lot of tags - they are all around the sides.
