Just Curious--reselling "old" SU Mini sets

Hi,

I am not a demo, but I thought maybe someone here at SCS could help me out just as an FYI thing. I know you can't buy current sets here on SU -- you need to trade for them. But what's the reason you can't buy sets from someone if they are from that year's Mini, but one that is already done? So say its April, why can't I buy a Mini set from that year's Winter Mini? You can't buy them anymore from SU. I understand that you can't buy them while the Mini is current, but I'm wondering why you can't from "old" Minis. Please know I am not questioning the policy, just wondering what the thinking is.

Do demos use sets from a expired Minis in their workshops? I wasn't sure.

I hope someone has the scoop.. thanks!

I think the reason is that the sets from minis are considered current until the catalog has come out as they may appear in the catalog. So for example, Mixed Bouquet was in Summer 2005 mini, it then appeared in main catty in 2006, so it is considered current until it either does or does not appear in the main catalog.

So as far as we know, SU is still considering putting Mini sets in the new cattys? I heard some talk somewhere at one point this spring that they might not put the Mini catty sets in the cattys anymore. What you said make sense. It's a little odd, but it makes sense!

They are not going to put Sell-a-Bration or current hostess sets in the catalog, but mini sets can still go in as far as I know. It's confusing, I know! :D
So sets from the current summer mini could make it into next year's catalog, so they are considered current until then.

Any stamp set from a mini EARLIER that June 1, 2006 AND not appearing in the current Idea Book & Catalog is okay to sell.......if I understand your question correctly.
So any mini set from a mini June 1 _May 31 in any year is not considered retired until it doesn't appear in the new catalog on July 1.
Just SU policy....
As a demo I don't use any set in a workshop that cannot be purchased at the time of the workshop. Just my policy......
This is about as clear as mud, huh? lol
