okay, i haven't made my final "list" yet, but i'm really excited that lots of sets are retiring, making way for new stuff!!! oh wait... maybe that's not a good thing *lol* so since the new catalogs are going to be smaller, does that mean they will be cheaper...

From what I understand the catalog is going from 256 pages to about 208 pages, so it's not going to be that much smaller. I would imagine that the difference will be in the seasonal stamps sets that won't be in each catalog, but will still be available to order. You won't have spring sets such as Easter, St Patricks Day, Valentine's Day etc in the July catalog, it will be mostly Holiday stamp sets i.e. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas. Then in January the catalog will feature the spring sets.

wow long list this year for sure. I need mostly wheels big ones. and a couple of stamp sets like girl friends and accessories.cats meow and wheel,do the hula beautiful beach, treat yourself. I still can't get all of this I'm sure many of you demos will be selling these sets later on so I guess I'll be keeping my eyes out later here in the buy sell trade section.
It seems like over half the catalog is going. I can't image what the new one will be bringing now.

I will be spending about $45.00 each month then I'm all set. For the rest of the sets I want . I guess I'll be looking to the demos after to see who is getting rid of what.

I agree, I am looking forward to the new sets. If I have them, I am considering myself fortunate because I buy because I love the set.

I noticed the comments on how many sets are retiring - you have to remember that the new catalogue will be smaller as they are now coming out with it twice a year. So it only makes sense that lots had to go.

My list is still too long and I have a spring mini order too - yikes - thank goodness I am hosting a party in June!

Yikes! Seems like they are retiring just about everything. Can't believe the list is so long. And it seems like every background stamp I get they retire the next year.

Don't you think it would be shorter and easier if they published the list of what would NOT be retiring??

It sure looks that way. I look at the list and think I should mark the ones on my SHELF that are retiring!

So do most demonstrators get rid of the retiring stuff? Surely though if it's a favorite you save it?

I have a handful I want. I'm not sure I NEED any, so I just may wait and see what "deals" I can get...

I have over fifty sets/wheels retiring; no big surprises other than Roses in Winter. I don't have anything I "must have" unless you count Doodle This from the spring mini. I wonder if that will make the new catty....

That's what I'm hoping, but it's hard to beat everyone else to the bargains! Anybody want to sell me some now? LOL There are a TON of must-haves on the list for me. It's gonna be hard to narrow it down.

I know for myself...there are over 50 sets that I have that will be retiring...AND I know for a FACT that 90% of them will be up for sale.

Tell ya'll a little SECRET...shhhhh don't tell. LOL But I have RIW and it's BRAND NEW UNMOUNTED and it will be for sale. I've had it for a long time, and since I've had it, never used it, so why keep it. So for sale it goes.

Not normal... this is the largest retiring list we've had!

previous years:
2003-- 130 sets
2004-- 184 sets
2005-- 139 sets
2006-- 153 sets

2007-- 233 sets, 45 wheels

one of the other years also included wheels, but I can't remember which year.

I am so excited to see all the NEW stuff SU will be coming out with in July!!!

OK, I take back what I just said. LOL!

It's not unusual for a high volume of sets to be retired, but, 233 is an unprecedented number. I imagine this has to do with the fact the catalog will now be released twice yearly.

Yep, that's what SU said-- because the catty will be smaller (by 48 pages!!!) this retiring list has more sets than usual, and that they "do not anticipate future retired lists being this size."

I thought the same thing, until I saw on the demo site that there are only TWELVE items on the dormant list, and EIGHT of them are wheels! So there isn't that much that won't be in the catalog already...

If I counted right, they only KEPT 130 stamp sets and 34 wheels!! So they did retire more than half the catalog! That is just crazy. I never expected more than half to retire. It really would have been easier to list what was staying, not retiring!
