Smile Card Sizes

Since I am still very new to card making, I was wondering what are the normal card sizes. Someone told me to take a 8 1/2" by 11" and cut it into, but they seem small. Most of the cards on this site look bigger. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help. I know it seemed like a really silly question!

Leigh,

The cards I make are mostly like what has been recommended to you: an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock cut in half, either lengthwise or widthwise. It ends up being something like 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", which is the standard "invitation" size.

Perhaps the cards in the gallery look bigger because the pictures are up close?

This is also known as "A2" size for buying envelopes and some embossing folders. Some cards in the galleries may indeed be larger that the standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. You can make any size or shape card you want, but A2 is probably the most popular.
