An impossible challenge?
We are having a valentine card making contest at work. Doesn't sound like a problem does it. Well here is the catch. I work in the accounting department and most of the rest of the agency is in creative. We were each given a bag of junk (most of it doesn't even go together) and we have to make a card using this bag of junk. It gets worse, I can't use anything else except glue, tape, and sissors. No ink, no stamps! I noticed these new cool cards using iris folding. Is it hard?? Can someone tell me how to do it? Any other ideas??

Yeah a reply! 72 looks and 1 reply, I know I'm in trouble. Mostly a lot of scrap pieces of paper that don't go together. The one good thing is I don't have to use everything, I just can't use anything else. In addition to the paper, is two small ribbons one gold one pinkish. Four candy hearts, one plastic white hearts and a little bit of silver string. HELP

Do you have a scanner? Or even a good digital photo? You should post a photo of the materials you have to work with so we can send you our suggestions.
This could be fun!

I'd like to see what you have to work with too. The candy hearts make me think "shaker card"!

I'm trying here:
Can you wrap the silver string around the plastic white heart?
Eat the candy hearts.
Pick one of the scraps of cs for your base. I know you said the cs does not go together - ug! Pick one piece of cs scrap that is the most visually appealing with your card base and punch circles from it. Mount the circles in a polka dot pattern onto the card base. Mount the silver strung up heart with glue dots to the center of the card.
I doubt this will help you, but I gave it a whirl....

Fun? You guys are sick! I don't have a scanner at home but I can take the stuff into work tomorrow and scan it in. I can't do a shaker because I wouldn't be allowed to use a overhead.

This is challenging. You could use the best of the cardstock for your base, horizontally. Mount the silver string across the entire card, like a clothesline. Then mount each of the candy hearts as though they were hanging off the line. Do the same with the white plastic heart. Write on the bottom: I love hanging out with you! (or something like that!)
That's about the best I can do with this little bit of info. Good luck!!

I like Barb's idea. I was thinking you could glue the candy hearts to look like a flower, with all the points pointing to the middle. Maybe roll the one ribbon in a circle and use it for the middle of the flower and the other ribbon could be the stem. The bits of paper could maybe be shredded and glued on to look like grass?
Hope you find an idea you can use. Good luck. Let us know how you make out.

Your original idea (iris folding) might work since you have a variety of colors to use. Maybe use a heart for the stencil. and then hang the silver heart in the middle.
Barb's idea is cute too, but maybe hang paper hearts from the various papers too. You could make them into heart balloons....
Starlit's idea is cute too...punch circles and attach to the other cardstock for the base. Like the idea of hanging the silver heart too. Can you use a punch.
Hopefully with seeing the colors, we can all help you!
