Default is it impossible???

I love the script backgrounds, whether they're from Stampin' Up or AC Moore. I would love to get one. But you know what? I'm not French, nor do I speak French. So why is it everytime I see a background stamp with script it's in French??? I would just really like to find a background stamp in a really pretty font AND know what it says. Is that too much to ask for?!
Have any of you seen a BG in English? There's gotta be somewhere that sells one! Where is this elusive place I can buy one from?
april

p.s. no offense to the French!

I think SU had one that retired awhile ago...it was an Irish blessing, but I don't think it was the same pretty font as the French script.

How about trying Cornish Heritage Farms?

I did some checking...I found this site that has a love letter written in English...kind of a similar look to the French Script:

Check out items M6 or M7

This is harder than I thought!

TAC has one called The Beauty of a Woman. It's a poem by Audrey Hepburn. It's very nice.

I guess I look at the french script background as something that is not meant to be read but more to create a visual texture to your cards. That being said, I used to have several BG stamps in English by Hero Arts. Unfortunately I think they have been discontinued. They were not in the pretty script font that the French BG is in though. Perhaps you could find one of them online? They had several types. Christmas, birthday, floral etc. I hope you find something you like.

thank you Malinda!!!

KvilleGirl- I looove the "visual texture" it creates, like you said. I'd just rather have it in English. If I can't find what I want, I'll break down and buy the French Script from SU. I just figure if I can find it in English, that's what I'd prefer. I've been looking through Hero Art's site.

The retired one Waxyo was talking about was just called Script. I think the font on it is beautiful, and would love to find that one someday! I can't remember the whole poem, but it starts with something like "May the road rise up to meet you" ... and I can't remember the rest. Hope this helps!

Here is a link to one called summer verse by a company called The Artful Stamper (which I believe is only Canadian?) but it looks like it is more horizontal than vertical. They have a nice full size BG in Japense but I am guessing that it would fall into you "French" category ')

I think the reason they use French and I have an Italian is so it remains a background stamp, so people don't sit there completely focused on trying to read your background and don't focus on the card you spent ages trying to make!

I found a Script for sale earlier this year. I *love* it! I need to get it out and use it for my next card day! The font is quite similar to the French Script BG. The poem is:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

*Many* years ago, I sang these words in a school choir piece. It really touched me then, and I still love it. I was very excited to come across the stamp--for a very reasonable price, too!

Oh blueflower I would go with this. Thanks Malinda for showing us this. I recently began buying TAC and like this idea of it being English. Although maybe that takes the allure away from it just being a bg???

Hi ladies! Thanks for all the great tips and ideas
I have the Audrey Hepburn stamp saved in my favorites. I think I've decided that's the one I will get someday.
You all have been such a great help! Thank you so much!
